Under The Earth

Karkat

Dave slammed the door shut behind him and locked the latch. He yelled at us to keep moving and that they were inside. Easy for him to say, he didn't have to carry a huge ass clown on his back.

I couldn't just leave Gamzee to be eaten, insane clown or not.

"This way." Aralia said running towards what looked like a large sewer vent. There was a gap in the centre of it and she squeezed through urging the others to do the same. One by one they quickly shoved themselves in, but the banging on that old door was becoming louder. They would be in here any second.

I was the last one to go through when the door gave way. I cussed and started to shove Gamzee through the gap cursing that damn fucking clown. Dave pulled him through and I shoved myself through the gap falling on the other side. John pulled me away from the bars as Aradia stepped forward and raised her hands.

She brought them down and the whole entrance of the sewer collapsed shutting us in, but more importantly, shutting them out.

Everything was dark, I couldn't see my hand in front of me. Then a beam of light came out from a flashlight, Aradia held it and shone it at the floor, "Alright guys, stay cl0se t0 me. It's really easy t0 get l0st in here."

Dave stepped in front of me before I could walk and flung Gamzee at me. I almost fall with Gamzee's dead weight and glare at the smirking Strider, "FUCK YOU STRIDER."

I chuckled and walked away from Karkat and followed closely behind John. He looked straight a head purposely not looking at me.

What he hell was up with this boy? First he declares no homo and then suddenly he's all over me?

I get it, I'm a sexy beast and some people just can't control themselves around this Strider bod, but John? Really? I shook my head, this was starting to sound like one of those weird online impossible matchup fanfictions.

It was difficult to see in this light, especially with my shades on, but it wasn't going to stop me. A Strider never removes his shades. Bro taught me that.

Then suddenly the earth shook and small rubble began to fall. Everything was eerily quiet as things began to become still. The water in the sewer began to rise and a distant roar could be heard in the far distance.

I swear and Aradia over calmly says the obvious, "A waterline must have br0ken. We sh0uld hurry, it's n0t far n0w."

We all started to jog. Aradia's flashlight bobbed on the walls. Karkat tripped and fell into the rising water. I ran to his side and tried to pull him up but he was being weighed down by the clown.

"Dude, you have to drop the clown, he'd kill us all anyway." I said.

Karkat swore and dropped Gamzee in the water and got up. I grabbed his hand before Karkat could change his mind and ran. The roaring was getting louder, the group was just up ahead and a small tunnel of light was in front of them.

Reaching the group Aradia ripped the sewer grate from the wall and it fell down below. Aradia then muttered something about taking a wrong turn.

She then looked over the edge and back at us. "There's a ledge t0 the side, f0ll0w me."

She then disappeared from sight as she scooted to the left of the opening of the sewer. Trolls and humans alike followed her, though this process was slow. The rushing water was getting louder and it would rush through here any minute.

I was close enough to the edge now that I saw the drop into the water below. We were so high up I couldn't tell how deep the water was. The ledge to my left looking out was thin, but was sturdy enough to hold everyone safely. It was my turn, Karkat was behind me and I stepped onto the ledge away from the sewer entrance.

Karkat was about to step onto it as well when he backed up, "GOG FUCKING HELL I CANT LEAVE THAT STUPID ASS CLOWN!"

He turned away and bolted away from the edge and out of instinct I jumped back from the ledge back into the tunnel and ran after him. Karkat stopped several feet in front of me starring into the distance. I looked up at the incoming rush of water and pulled Karkat's hand towards the edge.

We weren't going to make it, there was too little time. I stopped and wrapped my arms around Karkat shielding his head and blocked his body with mine just as the rush of water hit us.

Dave and I were falling. Blasted out of the sewer by the wave of water and now we fell down towards the ocean.

Dave held tight to me and we smacked the cold water like it was a wall of cement. Pain shot through my body and Dave's arms lost their grip as he became limp. My lungs burned and I couldn't see a thing.

The water was pitch black and all I could hear was the roaring of water. I felt the brush of a hand and I grabbed onto it swimming hopefully towards the surface. I prayed to gog that it was Dave's hand I had grabbed.

Every part if my body hurt from the fall and the swimming, but finally my head broke the surface and I lifted up Dave in the water so his head was above water. His shades had been blown off and his eyes were shut. There was no way I could tell if he was alive or not.

The current in the water was strong and it threatened to pull us under again, but I struggled to keep my head and Dave's above water. I couldn't see the others. I was so far away, I could only see the fire in the city this late at night. Then something hit me in the head, I grabbed it and it was a rope. I wrapped it around my hand and looked up at the dark mass that blocked out the stars with it's shadow.

It was a ship. I was then being pulled up. I held tight to Dave and the rope, I was not going to let go. I was pulled over the edge and thrown onto the dark wood of the deck. A lantern was then shoved in my face.

"Well well well, didn't expect to see you again kaaaaaaaarkat." Vriska said shining the light in her face. "Check Dave, is he alive?" She asked then to one of her crew member.

I held my breath and the male troll nodded, "Good," she said, "I would 8e so sad if Vantas's little 8oy toy had died."

I lay back down on the deck and groan, of all the people to be saved from it had to be the spider bitch. This day just keeps getting better and better.
