"So they're just assuming it was a random car passing by?" Calum asked.

"Yeah, that's what my dad said. They don't have any reasons to believe someone would know we're up here."

"That's the thing though! After Ali went missing stuff like this keeps happening. Does no one but us see a trend here?" Alyssa ranted. Lately, the 'adults' had been leaving us out of their conversations. Kyle, Calum, Alyssa, and I had been hanging out in our rooms for an hour or two while there was an important meeting happening in the cafeteria.

"It's incredibly stupid that we can't be out there." Kyle said, rolling his eyes.

Kyle seemed to be back to his normal self after our talk. I still haven't told my parents about what he told me though. Other people might see it as his fault since he let her go, but honestly who could have guessed that she wouldn't come back inside?

"This is ridiculous. We aren't children. Let's go back out." Calum stated.

Ferra hadn't even let Liam go to the meeting, so he was currently reading another book series I lent to him in his room. I don't blame him, I wish it was still that simple for me.

"Let's go." I said, gesturing us out the door.

We walked into the cafeteria, unseen. "Let's just stand here where they can't see us for a minute and see if they change the subject when we walk in." Alyssa whispered.

They were all sitting at a table, clearly deep into a debate.

"We need to stay and fight." I heard Toby demand.

"I'm with Toby." David said. Spencer and Mali-Koa nodded. They had become quite close friends recently, being around the same age and all. This was another one of those friendships that wouldn't happen on a typical day, but this was also one of those special circumstances that required having someone's back.

"What?" Calum whispered, loud enough for us all to hear. The others were still into an argument, and none had seemed to notice us yet.

"If we stay, we risk injury and loss of even more people." I watched my mom's face drop as Sam's words registered in her head.

"Exactly. We have to protect ourselves and just get out of here." My dad said.

"Tom! Don't you see? There's no leaving. We don't have anywhere else to go!" Joy said.

"Maybe we should vote on it." Spencer suggested.

"Okay, raise your hand if we should stay and fight." Sam said, his wife raised her head, as if not knowing what to vote for.

Wes, Spencer, Toby, Joy, and David all raised their hands.

"Alright," he said, counting the hands raised. "Who wants to pack up and leave?"

Katie, Marcus, my parents, Ferra, and Mark all raised their hands.

What are they talking about?

"We better make a decision soon then. They said we only had a week to pack up and leave."

"Who?" Alyssa asked to herself.

They began to stand up and disperse, so I motioned for us to go back to my room.

"Maybe this is an advantage that we know. I don't think they were planning on telling us." I said, gently closing my door.

"I guess you're right." Calum said, shaking his head.

"This is ridiculous, let's just confront them about it!" Kyle suggested. I rolled my eyes. "Kyle, do you think that if we confronted them they would tell us the truth? They don't even know what's going on!" I yelled.

"Shut up Carter! I'm trying to help and you're being like this."

"You two! Stop fighting!" Alyssa said, pulling me away from my irritating brother.

"Sorry." We both apologized.

"Let's not tell them we know about this because I think they're just trying to protect us." Calum spoke up.

"Calum could be right. We'll keep to ourselves, they'll probably tell us anyways." Alyssa said. I nodded.

"Well, I'm gonna go help with lunch. Talk to you guys later." I began walking away when I heard footsteps behind me. "I'll come too." Alyssa said with a smile.
