These two to me mean someone is trying to start a conversation. It's a bit of a step up from hi/hey. Also hiya can be fucking annoying depending on how you use it.

Honestly is seems like the want something. Whether it's a favor or a hook up. I think it makes you seem a little more desperate for conversation

A chill and casual way to greet and ask a question. (If you use this for every conversation it eats really damn annoying)

This shows how you are feeling. Also it can be taken as you don't feel like typing and are lazy.
How are you?
A simple question like this is a good conversation starter. (Again don't use a lot)
