Vera stayed unmoving in her place as the zombies approach her way. How much courage does this girl have? I sure don't have that to let the zombies came running after me without looking  intimidated. Vera reached for the explosives that she kept on her belt as the zombies were already 15 meters away from her. She lift the lock and throw the grenade right at the horde of zombie then she quickly run towards the car. I watched as all the zombies fry at the explosion in front of me, the remaining ones were all going in the direction of the fire. They were attracted by the noise.

My eyes reverted back to Vera again who had reached the van that was horded by zombies a moment ago. I watch as she bangs the door of the van to maybe inform the people there that she's human and trying to help.

I gasp when I saw who emerged out of the van. "CALUM!" I screamed, not containing the happiness I felt as I saw my friend run alongside Vera to approach us.

"What? Is he one of your friend?" Enzo asked excitedly.

"Yes, he definitely is!" I answered just as excited as he was and I quickly get out of the vehicle to wait for Calum and Vera. Just as they arrived I hugged Calum. "You're alive, Calum! You're alive!"

Calum laughs as he hug me back. Then, he look at me and said "Yes, thanks to this girl, I am." He said, motioning to Vera. "Glad to see you again!"

"We have no time for those, we need to go, I'm sure more of them will come, that explosion is loud. It's gonna be bad if were still here by the time they arrive." Vera said stiffly then quickly proceed to the vehicle in the driver's side. Calum and I quickly entered the passenger seats at the back.

"Thanks for saving me back there." Calum said, looking at Vera's back.

"You should thank my brother, if he isn't so persistent we wouldn't even stop the vehicle and you'd be dead by now." Vera replied.

Calum turned to Enzo, "Thanks bud. I owe you a lot."

Enzo turned and smiled at Calum. Then he turns to the road again and said, "No problem, dude. I'm glad to be of help. If we hadn't stop, we wouldn't know what were looking was there all along." Calum noded at him while looking at the rear view mirror.

Calum looked at me. "Where did they find you, Mikey?" Calum asked.

"At the grocery store nearby. Enzo offered to help me find you guys. I'm so glad to see you okay, bud." I patted Calum's back and smiled.

Calum look at the siblings at the front and whispers at me, "The girl seems scary, she speaks so cold."

"She nearly shot me at the grocery store if Enzo hadn't stopped her." I replied in a whisper like him.

Calum looked at me wide-eyed as if asking, Seriously? I nodded at him.

He whispered again, "She is indeed scary."

"Both of you, stop whispering or I'll think you're planning something bad. I'll shoot you right in the head, I swear." Vera warned without looking at us. Enzo snickered at her sister's words.

"Don't pissed her off too much." he said. Then Enzo laughed again.

"We won't harm anyone who saved us from nearly dying. We were just talking about our other friends." Calum defended.

"You better be." Vera replied curtly.

"Where are we going now, then?" Enzo asked.

"They are possibly in the border of New Mexico and Arizona, we were separated there." I replied to Enzo.

"We need some several weapons first. We only got four decent guns at the back. We'll gonna need more." Vera said.

"Where can we get some?" Calum asked.

"I know a place." Vera replied.

------

We emerged from the armored vehicle and find ourselves in front of a gun shop in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Enzo has a big smile on his face. Clearly excited to explore the place and possess some guns that are inside.

Vera held a rifle in her arms. Calum was supposed to have it but Vera snatched the rifle away from him, so he held something else.

"I can carry your rifle, Vera. I'm going to take care of it." Enzo offered.

Vera looked at him. "No way you're holding this big guy." Vera replied.

"I'm gonna find myself my own Mk.17 SCAR!" Enzo growl at her sister.

"I'm not gonna let you carry one. This is not a toy, Enzo." Her sister replied to him curtly. Then Vera proceed to enter the gun shop while his brother glared at her back, then after a while he follows. Calum and I are instructed to wait outside to guard the vehicle.

"Those two are amusing. Never have I seen siblings who argue about rifles and stuff." Calum told me. Shaking his head. "Definitely blood hungry guys."

"I don't think so. Maybe both of them are just really fascinated with guns. The woman is in the US Army, Cal." I replied.

"She is?"

I nodded.

Calum whistles. "So that's why she looks trained to handle guns and stuff. And she really looks slightly bulky for a girl, don't ya think?"

"Maybe, she really looks uncaring though, I don't think we are safe with her."

"I don't think so either, but let's take our chances."

"Enzo is a good guy. I'm sure he'll never let her harm us. I've seen the kid talk to her sister. He's not scared of her, at all. I'm really amazed considering how stiffly she looks or maybe she knows what her sister is capable of doing." I replied, reassuring Calum.

Calum looked at me. "I just hope we can reunite with Luke and Ashton, Mikey. I just want to see them safe and sound." Calum looked hopeful and sad remembering our best friends.

I nodded. "I hope so, too."
