Imagine: The rain is hitting the wind shield. It's a straight down pour. You have the wind shield wipers on high, but it's still hard to see. The only thing running through your mind right now is the lyrics to Rainy Season . That makes everything ten times worse. You woke up this morning not feeling well, but you went to school anyways. The you had four tests, and failed every one of them.. Also, you and some of your friends got into a huge argument. Plus, everyone picked on you, as usual. Then when you came home, your parents were having a huge argument. You felt so stressed and just needed a break, so you left the house, telling your parents that you were going to Starbucks when in actuality, you were just going to drive around and wish that Hunter was there to comfort you. But of course, he wasn't. He was on tour. He had wanted you to go with him, but you couldn't. Not with school, friends, and family. Now you are wishing that you would have went with him.
You catch yourself singing the lyrics to Rainy Season, so you turn on Hunter's CD and listen to it. Soon tears start streaming down your face. You pull over in a parking lot to try and get yourself together so you can continue driving. You sit there in your car and listen to Hunter's sweet voice pouring from speakers. Soon, the tears subside.
It is then that you realize that you actually did drive to Starbucks, and that's whose parking lot you are in. You shut your car off and go inside, hoping a coffee will help make you feel better. You order coffee and sit down in a corner booth and stare at the rain drops sliding down the window pane. You have your phone laying on the table, hoping that maybe Hunter will find time in his busy schedule to text or call you. You keep checking your phone to see if by any chance he had called or texted and you had missed it. Nothing. You let out a sigh and look around the room. Everyone is sitting with friends or family. They are all laughing and talking. You're the only person who is sitting by their self and not having a good time. "This day is just terrible!" you think to yourself.
You lean up against the window and close your eyes. In the next instant, you hear Wanted start playing and feel your phone vibrating underneath your fingertips. You open your eyes and pick up your phone to see who is calling.
It's Hunter. You sigh a sigh of relief and answer the phone. "Hunter."
"Hi babe. How are you?"
"Not too good." you say.
"Why? What's wrong babe?"
You start to tell him about your bad day.
"Awww. I'm sorry you had a bad day. Where are you at now?"
"I'm at Starbucks."
"Hoping some coffee will help, huh?"
"Yeah, but it's not."
"Well, how about I sing you a song? Would that make you feel better?"
"Yeah. It would.
" "Ok. Here it goes." and with that, he starts to sing Light Me Up. You lean up against the window, close your eyes, and listen to the voice of the boy that you love so much, singing his heart out on the other end of the line.
Soon, you start to hear an echo of Hunter singing and it is louder.
When you open your eyes, you see Hunter sitting across from you. When he sees that you have opened your eyes, he hangs up his phone and continues singing. You hang up your phone and smile. He reaches across the table and takes your hands in his.
When he finishes, he says "Hey babe." with a smile.
"Hunter." you say with relief. "I'm so happy you're here."
"I know." And I'm happy to be here.
" "How did you find time to come home?"
"It turns out that we don't have anymore shows for a month. They're giving us a break."
"Well it couldn't have come at a better time." Hunter gets up and comes to your side of the booth and sits down beside you. He puts his arms around you and you put your head on his shoulder. After a little while, you lift your head up and look into his blue eyes.
"I love you Hunter."
"I love you too babe." He leans in and kisses you. After he pulls away, he says "It's getting later. Have you ate dinner?"
"No."
"C'mon then. Let's go to dinner and then we will go outside and watch the sunset then look up at the stars when they come out."
"The dinner part sounds great, but we can't sit outside, it's raining."
"Not anymore." And as he says this, you guys step outside and you see that the rain has subsided and the sun is shining.
"The sun must have came out when you got here. You light everything up, including me." you say with a smile.
He smiles back and you guys get into the car and drive to your favorite restaurant.
You guys have a wonderful dinner.
Then you go to your house and tell your parents that Hunter is home and that you're going to watch the sun set outside. You two sit and watch the sun set then lay down on a blanket and look up at the stars when they come out.
"So, did your day get better?" Hunter asks.
"Of course it did. Because you came home." You smile and he smiles back.
Then he kisses you.
That night, you fall asleep under the beautiful starry night, wrapped up in Hunter's arms.
And in the end, everything works out. Your parents resolve their argument, you retake the tests and ace them, the teasing finally comes to an end, you and your friends work out the problem that caused the argument, you feel better and your sickness goes away, and best of all, Hunter is home for a while.
Funny how just seeing that boy and having him around changes everything around and makes everything good again.
