I slid into my desk and fumbled through the pages of my textbook until I reached the assigned page. The teacher was speaking rapidly, situated at the front of the classroom. Her name was Ms. Summers, she was my absolute favorite teacher. She had strawberry blonde hair and plump lips that she coated in bright red lipstick every day. Her eyes were hidden behind thin cat eye glasses, engraved with small blue designs on each side. I glanced over to the window placed on the side of the classroom and my eyes went in and out of focus, staring at the heavy snowfall outside. Class went on for another half an hour and then we moved on to the next class, and then the next class, and went through all of our classes until our school day was over. We were given a free hour afterwards to pass the time before dinner began. I grabbed my books and started to walk toward my room when someone grabbed my hand. I turned around. A boy with curly hair and blue eyes was staring back at me.

"Uh, hi." I managed to put on a smile.

"Hey." He looked down at the ground and then back up at me with a shy smile plastered on his face. After a moment of awkward silence, he finally spoke.

"Well um, wanna come with me outside and take a walk or something? I mean unless you have other plans or you—"

Before he could finish his sentence I answered, "No, I don't have any plans. Unless you count being bored, laying in bed as plans." He laughed.

"Good. I'm Isaac by the way."

"I'm Olivia."

"I know." He smiled at me and I watched him walk away with his hands in his pockets.

I put away my books and found myself eager to meet this boy outside. I looked outside our bedroom window and there he was, standing near the playground where kids of all ages were screaming and running around. Smiling, I turned around, stopping near a mirror to fix my hair. A white, long sleeve shirt and leggings was my outfit choice for the day, I also had brown boots on and my only winter coat. I walked down the orphanage stairs and pushed open the tall doors. A brisk wind caught me off guard and pushed it's way into my face. Realizing it was much colder than I pictured, I zipped up my jacket. Isaac spotted me and smiled, he started to walk towards me.

"You came." His face lit up.

"Yeah...I came." I smiled. He gave me a smile in return.

"So why exactly did you invite me here? We've never spoken before."

"We haven't. That's exactly why I invited you. I want that to change." I was taken back by his straight forwardness, in the best way possible.

"Oh." Blood rushed to my cheeks, I was completely red. I looked around the outside walls of the orphanage, I felt his eyes staring at me. He broke the silence.

"So tell me about yourself. What are your quirks, your fears, your secret talents?"

"You first." I said. He playfully rolled his eyes.

"Okay. Well for one, I'm a math genius." He boasted.

"That's something we don't have in common."

"That's okay. Opposites attract right?." He laughed and I smiled

"Let's see, I also like drawing, even though I suck at it. I know you like drawing, considering you spend half of your time completely spaced out doing it in class."

"Way more than half." We laughed. We continued to talk until the dinner bell rang and we walked inside together.

"Okay, I am your official math tutor from now on. Also, you have to teach me how to draw. Deal?"
