Shadow's Fury

Chapter 1

The Beginning

As I'm taking my usual route through the forest, jump over the fallen tree covered in moss, down the hill and around the mountain. Mother banned me from going to the mountain due to rumors she heard from people on the field. "Shadow's Alive!" some had said. Shadow was a dragon that lived at the manor. Shadow was taught by my father Richard. He would come home everyday and tell my mother about her. "Shadow is a beautiful creature she's gray with black stripes, a black tail, and spikes down her back. Her eyes are the prettiest I have ever seen!" "Mhm" mother said sarcastically. "Oh of course yours are prettier, that's why I married you." He said to try to comfort her. "her eyes are a clear ocean blue." One day my father woke up 6:00 am. precise, he put on his tunic and moccasins. He walked up to the manor stables and fed Shadow. He picked up a brush and started to groom her. "Richard, Great to see you this early." Horatio, my fathers master had said. "Oh... I thought I could just feed her and say hi." my father said. "Well....since your here why don't you take her for a run." "Sir, are you sure? He has never flown before." My father said with a pale face. "I think she's ready." Horatio said very excited. "Okay, Shadow here we go." he said. He grabbed her reigns and said the command words and she was off Shadow was perfectly fine its about 8 o'clock am. and everyone were in the fields working threading the wheat. Momma looked up and saw father on Shadow about 15 feet up in the air. He was going around in circles over Dead Man's lake. Father accidentally kicked Shadow's stomach and she flipped out. Momma was still watching him . Shadow shot out flames, it was the first time that she ever did something obnoxious like that. My father lost his balance and fell off, and fell in Dead Mans Lake. All of a sudden you hear a loud scream of bloody murder...

Chapter 2 

Fathers Death

Mamma didn't have enough money to pay for father's funeral... even though we didn't have a body to bury. Mamma went to Father Theoran asked for forgiveness. "Father, please forgive me. I have failed my son I have failed my husband. What do I do?" my mother said in a pleading voice. "All you can do is pray, and ask the lord to show you the way." Father Theoran said. Mother was very depressed after father died. She has always wanted to take me to England so we can have a fresh start, but has been holding her back. I never knew my father. I always wanted to know what he looked like. Was he nice? Mean? What was Shadow like? As I run these questions through my head. I was also thinking about the mountain. Would my father let me go to the mountain? What would he do? I grabbed my dagger from the cabinet put it in my pocket and walked out the door just after leaving mum a note. "Mum going to the market be home for dinner." I didn't want her to worry and know I went to the mountain. I thought for a minute dragons have to eat something other than people... Fish. I ran down the road to the market I only had 5 sheckles so I hope it was enough, its not a lot but its something. When I was in the Market Square you could smell the bread fresh from the oven, the pastries, everything....No! I need to get the fish .I turned right and saw the fish stand. There was so many different kinds of fish. Trout, Bass, Catfish etc. I went up to the man and said, "Anything for 5 sheckles?" The man looked at me like I was crazy. "He said I sell fish, the best fish and you say 5 sheckles? Ha!" "Please Sir, I need the fish." I said with a disappointed look. He looked at me for a second and said "How bout' I make a deal with you." "Oh yes sir I will do anything." "Okay every morning you have to be at this stall at 6:00 am precise no second earlier no second late." "Yes, Sir!" he handed me the fish I handed him the change and left. I ran to the side of the manor. I had no idea how I would get in. I walked up to the front of the manor, luckily no one was there. I was small enough to fit through the gate I crawled underneath and I was in. This place was huge!! the hallway had a bright red carpet, silver door knobs it like a dream. Most of my dreams include cotton candy and chocolate but no. I stopped dreaming, and started to walk down the hallway. I didn't know what door would lead me to the tunnel. I turn to my left and reach for the handle. "What are you doing here?!" I hear. I turn and o have a crowd of guard staring at me and the start to chase me. I open the door and run inside. I slam the door behind me and lock it. Darkness, great...I pit my hands out in front of me and try to feel for a wall or a table or something. "ouch" I say reaching for my stomach. I reach out and I feel what seems like wood. "come on, there has got to be a match here somewhere." I'm rubbing my hands all over this table to feel for something. I feel this little tiny box I pick it up and run my hands over it. "matches.." I whisper. I pull one out and run it across the hard box. "Ah-ha, I got it" the match lit. I look around me, I see brick wall everywhere. "THIS IS MY TUNNEL. GET OUT OF HERE BOY!" I turn to my left and I see some old man who must have been locked up in here. I freak out and run. Why, why now. why does someone have to find me. I think to myself as I run. I have a shortage of breath but I keep going. I look behind me and i see the old man running after me. What does he want? Why is he following me?

Chapter 3 

The Tunnel

I think I lost him. I slow down and stick my hands out in front of me again. Hopefully I can get out of this place, it has a very strong death smell. I feel the rough brick, I start to knock hoping to hear the hollow wood. Bang! I hear it I run my cold fingers over the door and open it. I walk out and the sunshine nearly blinds me. I run outside and smell the fresh air. It feels nice to actually be outside, i'm miles away from the castle but I can see the mountain up ahead. Still holding the fish, (which smells disgusting now) I run to the mountain and climb up to the top. As I reach the top I can see Shadow sitting there all lonely. I walk up to her and put the fish down in front of her. I step back and she slowly lowers her snout and smells the fish. It must of tasted good because she ripped that fish to shreds. I reach for her and she growls. "I won't hurt you. My name is Jared" she's staring at the ground, "my father was Richard, your instructor" her eyes shot up at me. Here I am, breaking ever rule possible staring into the absolute most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. Shadow stands up and comes towards me as I go to reach out and touch her scaly skin I hear a voice. female I think, not an adult more of a teenager. "Hey! Anyone up there?" Shadow flees into her cave with fear and hatred. I look over the edge and there is this girl, just a beautiful girl in a white sundress and her blonde hair up in pins. I wake up from daydreaming and speak "yeah-uh I'm up here. All alone" I say, right now I am shaking. "Oh, well I'm Billy, what about you? what's your name?" she says. Her voice I swear is like heaven.
