11: Buying Time

[Jungkook's Pov]

-At the markets-

Jin: "Grab a trolley."

I follow his orders without protesting but then I turn around to notice he is gone. Not again! I push the trolley down many aisles until I spot him with multiple packets of ramen in his arms.

Jin: "Oh Jungkook! What took you so long? My arms can't hold much more."

He dumps them all into the trolley. This is just the beginning. This hyung is a food addict.

Jin: "What do you want to eat tonight? How about kimchi jigae (Korean kimchi soup)?"

Jungkook: "Anything is fine with me."

We continue to stroll down the aisles looking for food. Jin is leading the way. He is grabbing whatever he likes and than throws them into the trolley. I hopelessly follow behind him. I watch the contents in the trolley rapidly pile up.

I'm bored but it's not too bad. Is this how it feels to have a regular life? It's been quite a while since I've freely gone shopping.

While I was wondering about life, Jin suddenly stops then starts running towards something.

Jungkook: "Hyung! What happened? Wait up."

It's hard pushing a trolley full of food. When I got there, I see Jin crouching down and talking to a crying toddler.

Jin: "Are you alright? Don't cry. Where's your mum and dad?"

I awkwardly stand in the background staring at the toddler. I look around for any parents who appear to be searching for a lost child.

Jungkook: "I think we shou-"

I turn back to Jin but he has already run off with the toddler in his arms. I grab the trolley ready to run after him but then someone texts his phone. It's from Minhee. I couldn't take my eyes off of it. I snatch it and raise it in the air ready to smash it on the floor, but I hesitate. I breathe deeply in and out from anger. I hate myself for acting this way. It hurts. I calm down and put the phone back away.

JungkooK: "Eomma! Tell her that I will meet her at the cinemas tomorrow at 8."

Jungkook's mum: "Is it for real this time? She will be so happy to hear this, unless you're just messing with her again."

Jungkook: "Do you want me to change my mind?"

Jungkook's mum: "No don't do that! So tomorrow, cinema, at 8. I'll tell her that."

Out of jealousy, I called my mum to officially set up a date. I had to rush the conversation because I was afraid that I would change my mind. Then, someone taps my shoulder from behind. I turn around to find Jin puffing from exhaustion.

Jin: "I finally..found..the..par..ents."

I had troubles understanding what he said, but I got the message. I still couldn't get that text out of my head for the rest of the grocery shopping.

Jungkook: "Can we go eat lunch? I'm really hungry."

Jin: "Of course. I'm way more hungrier than you expect."

We made our way to a nice bulgogi (marinated meat) shop. Ah the smell of bulgogi is like perfume to me.

Jin: "Eat this one."

Jin carefully wraps a huge lettuce piece around the meat and shoves it in my mouth. It tastes even better when it's fed by him.

Jungkook: "Delicious! If only we could eat this everyday."

Jin: "Do you want to try asking Bang PDnim? He would make us eat this for a whole 3 weeks."

Jungkook: "Haha! True! Let's just enjoy it now."

It's nice getting to talk to him. I wish this can last longer so I try to eat as slow as possible.

Jin: "Over here! Can we get another set please? Kamsahamnida (Thank you)."

Jungkook: "Huh? Hyung, you want to eat more? I'm so full already."

Jin: "If you're full then I'll just eat half of it and bring the rest home for the others."

I watch him fit a bunch of meat and lettuce in his mouth at the same time. This is not anything surprising. He would always eat more than how much a pig can.

Jin: "Wah it feels like I'm gaining weight but it tastes good! I think my stomach will explode."

Jungkook: "No matter how much you eat you never gain any weight."

Jin mumbles something but I didn't get one word because his mouth is all full. But I know he agrees. Eventually Jin stops eating. I'm pretty sure Bang PDnim wouldn't be pleased about the check.

Jin: "I think we should go back to the dorm now."

Already? What excuse should I make up to buy more time? Oh I got it!

Jungkook: "But hyung, isn't it Taehyung's birthday soon? We can get him a gift right now."

Jin: "Really? Wait a minute! It's in another three weeks. We don't have to get it now. Just in case he somehow finds it in the dorm. "

Jungkook: "Our schedule is filled so we won't have enough time to buy him one. We should get it now."

Jin: "Geurae (sure). Let's go!"

Yes! Mission accomplished. I get to spend more time with him. We walk along the street markets searching for what we thing V likes. I spot Sailor moon socks.

Jungkook: "Oh these are cute!"

Jin: "For Taehyung?"

Jungkook: "Yeah! He always steals my socks. Why don't we get him these?"

Jin: "Ah he takes mine too! Let's get him ten pairs then."

Jungkook: " Let's get for J-Hope as well since he's always wearing those little mermaid ones. I also want Sailor moon socks! Jeongmal (really) sexy!"

We bought the socks and went home. I really couldn't think of anything else. But these few hours I've spent with Jin are worth more than the thousands of hours I've spent without him.
