Through The Wilderness

> Run. That was all I could think of. 'RUN!' It filled my mind, body and soul. Why? Why did it fill me so much? And why was I running? I don't know. All I can think of right now was running and the urgent need to get away. I realised that I was holding something. Not good if I want to run any faster. I reached for my messenger bag and stuffed it in slowing a bit. Then, when that was done, I moved my arms back and forth, arched my back so I had enough breathing space and ran faster than I ever have before.

I was in a meadow and there were trees and the woods about two hundred yards ahead of me. Shelter! That's what I needed. I put on a new burst of speed and entered the woods. Shelter at last. But it's still not safe. I don't know why I think this, but I just know that it's still not safe and I have to keep on running, even though my calf muscles and my lungs are burning.

I go deeper and deeper into the woods. Through the wilderness and deeper into the dark and dangerous parts of the woods. I start to panick and pant even faster. I've been in the woods before on hunting trips, but I was always with someone. And we never went this far into the woods. Never this far. I force myself to calm down and breath as regularly as I can whilst running this fast. Nothing could be more dangerous than the situation I have put myself in not even half an hour ago.

I see a clearing up ahead and right now, I don't care if there's anyone using it at the moment, I figure that I've put enough distance between me and danger so I stumble into the clearing and collapse to the ground, suddenly unable to move a single muscle. As I'm just about to pass out, I hear a voice.

"What the - ?" It blustered.

"Who is this? Andrew! See to this immediately. I will not be disturbed from my important matters of state."

"Yes, at once My Lord Sheriff" I heard a much younger voice reply.

I heard footsteps coming towards me.

"Hey, girl! What are you doing?" The younger voice whispered. He must have realised just how tired and dehydrated I was because after he said that, I felt something cold, wet and refreshing on my lips. Water! At last, someone with compassion! I drank the water greedily.

"Girl, I asked you a question." the voice stated.

"Lord Sheriff?" I queried, still panting.

"Yes" Andrew replied.

"Ah shit" I said. I really landed myself in it this time, didn't I? Was my last thought before I passed out.
