A/N okay, this is the last chapter! And I would like to make a very special dedication to dreaming_in_seattle , you have been here throughout me writing this book and have encouraged me along, thank you so much!
Or so I thought.
I woke up with a blinding light on me. I blinked my eyes a few time. I sat up and looked around. I was in a hospital room with ten machines hooked up to me and OH MY GOSH BRIAN. I leaned against the back of the bed and said, "Brian!" It came out as a whisper, weirdly enough. Brian turned his head towards me and his face lighted up. He ran over and kissed me and I kissed back.
"Oh my gosh, you're awake!" He exclaimed, "They were going to take you off of the life support machines soon. You've been asleep for four months, Sarah. I've been worried sick about you." He kissed me again, leaving me in a state of confusion.
"What do you mean I've been asleep for four months?" I asked.
"You were in a coma," he said.
"No, I died."
"You what?!" He shrieked.
"Yeah, after I forced you to run on when the kidnapper was chasing us, the kidnapper stabbed me in the shoulder and in the stomach," I recalled. I felt my shoulder and stomach. There were no scars.
"What are you talking about?" He asked with genuine concern, and I was wondering what was wrong with him. Did he get amnesia or something?
I told him the story of the texts, and how I saw him in a dream, then met him, and the searches and how he kidnapped me and how I ended up dead. All he did was shake his head.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Sarah," he said, "You've been asleep for four months after one morning when you didn't wake up. I have stayed by your side all summer and even at the end of last school year. Everyone's been worried about you. The doctors said you would never wake up. I thought I had lost you."
"Maybe it was all a dream during the coma," I said to myself, "Brian, what year is it?"
"2015," he replied.
"What month is it?"
"July."
"What day is it?"
"Monday the 28th."
"How long have we been dating?"
"Well, after Grey broke up with you, I comforted you and we were like extremely close afterwards and definitely more than friends, but we didn't call it official until a right before you slipped into a coma." Suddenly all the memories came flooding back to me. Brian snuggling with me on the couch while I was wiping away my tears. The first kiss he gave me, the second day that he was comforting me. The sweet love poems he always wrote. The last night we were together before I fell asleep, he had asked me to be his girlfriend, finally after four months of being more than friends.
"Brian," I said, hugging him. I wept tears of joy into his shirt. Right then a doctor with Kayla and Henry and my mom walked into the room.
"You're awake!" Kayla shrieked. She, Henry, and my mom ran over to me and gave me a big group hug.
"Miss Henderson! We will run some tests on you and then you will be free to come home. But we will give you some time to say hello to your family and friends before." The doctor said as she walked out of the room.
"You're almost home, Sarah," Brian said after the group hug ended, giving me a kiss, "Almost home."
A/N how do you like the ending? I just wanted to say that my new story will be up soon, or should I say stories? If you didn't guess by that terrible pun, my next book will be a collection of short stories! Yay! Anyway, that's the end, so yea! Bye and see you in the next book!-Piper
