"Taylor, come on!"

"Yeah, yeah hangon, these giraffes are cool."

"Yeah, they're almost as tall as you!", my brother Austin smirks.

"Shutup!", I reply.

I finally tear my eyes away from the giraffes and move on to the elephants.

"Omg, boring!", says Austin.

My family moves on but I'm still reading the sign about the elephants. I finish reading and look at the elephants one more time before moving on. I look up but I can't see my family anywhere. "Mum?" I call. "Dad?" "Austin?!"

I start running along the path to try and catch up with them. Suddenly the path comes to an intersection and there is 3 different choices. I call for my family again but there is still no reply. Which one, which one? I think to myself, looking at each path. I choose the left one and run down it calling my family's names the whole time.

"MUM!", I scream.

I'm getting scared now. Calm down Taylor, calm down. Ok, what should I do... I know! I'll go to the reception area for the zoo. I run back down the path and it and find another intersection I must have passed on the way here. I continue going straight but after about 10 minutes of running I'm getting really tired and I'm sure that I'm going the wrong way. I turn back and this time go right at the the intersection. I run past lions, pandas, monkeys... Wait monkeys?! I didn't  pass monkeys on the way here. Oh no, I must have gone the wrong way again! I look around. I'm at a dead end. On one side of me are the monkeys and in the other side is just bush. I look through the bush and see a red building. Hey, that's the colour of the reception building! I sigh with relief and begin running through the bush. The building is much further away than I thought it would be. Suddenly there's a river in my way. It's too deep to go through, especially in my new jeans, so I look for a way around it. Following the river, I run upstream until I find a very shallow part of the river. Looking ahead, I can see that the river doesn't end soon. I'll have to cross here. I tiptoe into the water, trying to step in as many rocks as possible.

"Ahh!" I scream, as I slip and fall on my bottom in the water.

"Oh no!", I cry.

My new jeans are ruined!

I quickly stand up and continue walking to the other side of the river, being extra careful. I get to the other side and step up. The dirt is extremely slippery and I put my hand out to steady myself. My hair gets caught in a tree root and comes out of its ponytail.

I finally get to the top and walk on the dry land again. I can see the building, it's not too far away now. I start running towards it, tripping on tree roots and falling over every now and then, scruffing and dirtying the knees of my jeans. Suddenly I hear a rip. I look down and one of my legs has a huge rip in its knee. I can feel tears pricking at my eyes. I turn a corner and suddenly the red building is there. But it's not the reception building, it's just a plain old red hut, barely the size of my wardrobe. I sit down on a rotting bench outside and start to cry. Goodness knows how far away I am from the zoo. I've been running through this bush for about an hour and a half including the river. My hair is a mess, my new jeans are ruined, my hands and face are dirty, my shoes are wet, I'm tired, I'm hungry and I just want my family. Tears are streaming down my face now and I wish for the millionth time that I had a phone so I could text my family.
