Am I asleep am I awake or somewhere in between-
I woke up with a start and looked around my room lazily. I slumped back into the bed when I realized it was just my phone, signaling that it was time to wake up for that oh-so-wonderful place that people call school. I just call it hell. Simple as that. I mean what other place tortures you for 8 hours straight. Who even invented school?
I sighed as I got out of bed, glancing at my phone to check the time. I have exactly half an hour to get ready- perfect. After taking a quick shower, I padded my way to my mirror to put on make-up. Alright people, if there's one thing you need to know about me, it's that I hate being fake. And for me, putting on too much of make-up is being fake. I believe in natural beauty. I simply put on eyeliner, mascara and berry lip gloss as a finishing touch. Glancing outside, I noticed how beautiful the day and I decided to wear my laced white spaghetti strapped dress with my ivory sparkled Toms, I kept my hair down(as usual) with my long chocolate curls framing my face. Looking deeply in the mirror, I saw an average girl- not exactly ugly, but not drop-dead gorgeous either. My chocolate brown eyes roamed around my face trying to catch any major flaw on my face. I had a little scar on my head, but that's almost invisible. Other than that, I had a face that certified okay.
Deciding that I looked fine for school, I headed down for breakfast. Before going down the stairs, I stopped by my sisters' room. Now let me start off by saying I don't have 1 or 2 or 3 but 4 sisters. That's right, 4 freaking sisters, excluding me of course. I go mad handling all of them sometimes.
I entered Alexis's room first. Alexis, at the age of 11, declared herself as the fashion queen- and for a good reason too. She is the reason I dress the way I do. Despite me being (way) older, she picks out my clothes for me. I'm blessed to have her as a sister, without her, I'd be nowhere. My fashion sense is terrible. As I entered her room, Alexis got out of her bathroom, dressed in her uniform. Seeing her ready for school, I moved on without a word.
My 3 younger sisters were next- Aundrea who's 6 years old, Maresa who's 5 and Abigail who's 4.
The second I entered their room, I heard Aundrea's giggling.
"Aundrea give it back now!" whined Maresa charging for Aundrea.
"Woah woah woah! Hey, what's wrong?" I said as I picked Maresa up
"Dre took my red bow and she won't give it back!"
"Seriously? That's all? The way you yelled at her, I thought she took something bigger. You yell really loud kid," I smiled rubbing my nose against her. A ghost of a smile touched Maresa's lips before disappearing.
"Nope, she just took my bow. But it's my favourite bow! I want it back!"
I sighed as I put her down. I swear I wasn't so energetic at their age. Rubbing my temples, I turned towards the door.
"Aundrea, just give it back. Hurry up, we have to leave or else your all going to be late," I paused at the door to look at the three kids, "again."
Reaching the kitchen I found my mom and dad already eating. I frowned at them.
"Mom, seriously?" I asked her.
"What?" she said innocently, "You guys take forever and I can't be late to work just because you want to have breakfast with the whole family. Anyway, I already made your breakfast. The plates are on the counter."
"Thanks but no thanks, I have to hurry and your children aren't going fast enough!" I yelled out the last part.
"Coming!" All my 4 sisters called out sheepishly.
"About time! Bye Mom! Bye Dad!"
Grabbing my keys off the counter, I headed out with all my sisters hot on my trail. I ushered them inside my car (I had to wrestle Abigail). I got inside the car myself and revved the engine.
"So whose ready for school?" I called out cheerfully. All I got in response was a sour look from Alexis and a smile from Abigail. The other two were too busy arguing with each other. Smiling at them, I started backing out of my driveway, before making my way to Cabell Elementary to drop off my 3 youngest sisters. My next stop was Marsh Middle School to drop off Alexis. With all my sisters dropped off, I drove to my own school- W.T. White. Yay. Make sure to note the sarcasm please.
You see, I used to love school. But then, the teachers decided to give us more work and more tests; in addition, math decided to have sex with science and create chemistry and physics. And thus, school was renamed as 'hell'. In short, I hate school. I'm not even that popular in school. I just blend in. That's it, no one really notices me and I'm perfectly fine with that. I have only 2 close friends Ruby and Vanessa- aka, the drama queens. They worry about the tiniest little thing and blow it out of proportion and a small, tiny, needle like problem becomes a gigantic, elephant sized problem. Oh well, I still love them to death and I'm always there for them, no matter how silly or how small the problem is. The best part is that I rarely have any problems of my own, so I don't have to worry much about myself. Or so I thought.
It turns out that problems pop up when you least expect them.
