What the Hades just happened.
Annabeth knew she should return but she couldn't. She just ran.
She ran away from her friends. Away from her feelings. Away from Percy.
Annabeth had no idea how long she was wandering through the woods. Probably hours because the sun was already coming up, she realized through her tears that she needed to stop or she'd just collapse. Annabeth looked around and between the trees she could spot some houses.
'I'll spend the night there' she said to herself. It took her 10 minutes to find a house where no one was home. Annabeth broke in through the back door, which wasn't locked. She took some food from the kitchen and a blanket she'd found in the living room. Annabeth left the house and she seek for a place to sleep. In the middle of the town there was a park and Annabeth decided to sleep there. Quickly, she made a little camp. It reminded her from the time she ran away from home and lived togheter with Luke and Thalia. Gods, that seemed such a long time ago, about 15 years.
Now that she wasn't running anymore she started thinking about Percy. First some good memories came. Them togheter on a quest, talking and joking with each other. Sure, they had been through hard times but they were happy. Then, there first kiss came. She remembered how stunned Percy had looked. She smiled. But her smile faded when the bad memories came. Percy being dissapeared for months, their fall in Tartarus. That time when Percy wanted to kill the godess of misery with her own poisons. If Annabeth hadn't stop him.. Annabeth shook her head, she didn't had to think about Percy. Especially after tonight. Annabeth shivered. She didn't know why she'd reacted like that. The tears came again when she thought about Percy's face when she gave him her answer. Even in the depths of Tartarus she hadn't seen him that hurt. Everybody went silent after what she'd answered and Annabeth did the first thing that came up in her head.
'Run'
So that's what she did. She ran away. She felt like when she was seven again. Scared and confused.
She hadn't know you could have so many tears. She'd cried all the way to here. She'd never felt so helpless. Annabeth stil didn't understand what was wrong with her. Why did she leave? She'd always dreamt about a future with Percy. In her darkest times the thought of Percy and her being togheter for a whole life time kept her going but now she just... Left him.
You could even say she'd dumped him.
A part of her wanted to return but she couldn't. She didn't know why but her instincts yelled at her that she should never go back but deep down in her heart she wanted Percy. She wanted to curl herself up in his strong arms while he gives her a kiss on her neck. For a moment Annabeth was happy but then she remembered she was alone, in a town, which was miles away from her Seaweed Brain.
With that depressing thought she fell asleep.'You did well.' a voice told her.
Annabeth looked around, at that moment she didn't realized it was a dream so Annabeth wasn't anxious to know who the body behind that voice was.
'You did exactly what I asked you to do,' the voice continued,' So as promised I'll not kill that Jackson boy. Not yet.'
'How do you mean?' Annabeth demanded,'Who are you? What did I do? And don't you dare to touch Percy.'
No matter how afraid she was and even though she left Percy behind. She would not let anybody hurt him.
Instead of giving answers, the voice laughed. A deep, ancient laugh that scared the hell out of Annabeth.
The voice kept talking,'I need to be sure you won't return to your friends so when you wake up, you just keep running away from them. Understood?'
'What? No!' Annabeth said. What did that voice think? Telling her what she needs to do? Foget it!
But before she could tell that to the voice, Mist came to her. Not Mist like normal mist but magical Mist. Annabeth started to feel sleepy and weak.
'W..what are you doing?' Annabeth asked with a little voice so she doubted that thing would even hear her.
Surprisinly, the voice answered,'You won't remember
' and there that ancient laugh was again.
Annabeth shivered and the world went black before her eyes.
