"Emily! Emily! Wake up! YOU'LL BE LATE FOR CLASS IF YOU CONTINUE SLEEPING!" My whole body jolted upright as soon as I heard the phrase 'Late for class'. I can't be late for my first lesson! Hurriedly, I showered and wore my skinny jeans and a loose white shirt, along with pure red Converse, the only shoe brand I like (more like LOVE).
I looked at my timetable and then at Sophine's. Looks like Sophine's in a different class than me. Looks like I'm gonna be a loner in class for this year.
"Well then, see you for lunch!" Sophine said before closing the door.
I grab my bag full of books and left the dorm and locked the door using some keycard device that I never knew how to use (but I figured it out anyways).
My class was at Level 5. Great. Now I even have to climb stairs. The hallway was full of students but I couldn't seem to find a blondie anywhere. The last one dropped out. I still remembered Mr In's words. Looks like I'm the only blondie in this school then.
I arrived at my class a few minutes before the bell rang. When I entered the classroom, there were only two seats left which were joined together at the back. Oh, well. Looks like I have no other choice now, do I? I threw my bag onto the floor and sat down, waiting for Korean class to begin.
The bell rang and a teacher came into the class. Must be the Korean teacher. We all stood up to greet him as Mr Cheon before sitting down and taking out our books.
All of a sudden, the doors of the classroom opened and a rather familiar guy walked in. I couldn't see his face as it was covered with his long fringe. All the girls in the class whipped out their phones to take pictures.
"Everyone please put away your phones now!" Mr Cheon shouted while slamming his hand onto the desk. Everyone quickly kept their phones, as instructed.
The guy then walked to the back of the classroom. The minute he sat beside me, I clearly knew who it was already.
"Everyone please turn to Chapter 2 on Korean Alphabets," Mr Cheon then started writing some Korean alphabets onto the chalkboard.
I was still curios why Jason was here. Isn't he a singer? Shouldn't he be excellent "to the max." in this subject?
"Um... why are you here? Aren't you good at this subject already?" I asked curiously.
"I don't know. Probably to blend in with the school by being an 'active student'. I don't really wanna attract attention to myself."
"Right. You're a singer."
"Now, do Excercise 11 with your tablemate. See if they are able to recognise the Korean Alphabets when put together," Mr Cheon wrote 'Excercise 11' onto the chalkboard then started walking around the classroom to monitor our work.
I stared at Jason's textbook, and he stared at mine.
"So... do you know this alphabet?" Jason then pointed to an alphabet that looked like an upright oval with an "l" but with a short stick on the right (아).
"Um... is it... O?" I didn't even know one bit.
"No, silly. It's A. You need some serious lessons, Emily."
"Then why would I be in this class then?"
"Uh..." his face turned pale.
"Nevermind. Let's just um, continue, shall we?" I pointed to the next alphabet which looked like a table but flipped over (ㅂ).
"That's obviously B."
"Okay I get it. You're smart and all. Might as well teach me."
"I'll think about it..." I think I saw him grin but I wasn't sure as his huge hoodie was in the way.
The next period was Physical Education, also known as PE. I'm lucky because YoonJae's with me and not so lucky because Jason's with me as well. Great much.
Our class was divided into groups. We're gonna play volleyball. YoonJae was in my team and Jason was in another team. Thank God.
"Uh, Emily? Are you free after school?" YoonJae voiced out with that sudden question. I then served the volleyball to the other team.
"Yeah, sure. Why? Need help with something?"
"Um, could you help me with my music? It sounds kinda weird," great. When I wanted to forget about music, someone asks. Nevermind. It's not that bad, right? I hit the volleyball that nearly hit YoonJae's leg. That was close.
"Uh, sure! Where to meet?"
"Music room, at the basement. Be there at 2?"
"Okay." YoonJae blocked the ball as the ball neared my face.
"Phew. You're good at this," I praised him. He then scratched his head.
"Haha, not really, but thanks anyway."
---------------------------------
Geography was our last lesson for the day. I had to suffer sitting beside him throughout the whole class, talking about the World Map and stuff. It was already 1:30 in the afternoon. Music room at the basement. Be there at 2? I finally remembered YoonJae's request.
I just bought a ham and cheese toast and a bottle of orange juice and headed all the way down to the basement. I knocked onto the door and YoonJae opened it. His smile was wider than ever. Why is that so? Hmph. Who cares.
"Come on in," he opened the door wide to let me walk in and as I walked in further, I see a stage with a full band set; a drum set, two electric guitars and a mic stand right at the front. Probably for Jason. Wait what?
I then followed YoonJae to his drum set. His scores were all over the place.
"Sorry about the mess. I just... have been practising for quite awhile," YoonJae said when he hurriedly picked up all the pieces of paper with music notes written on them.
"No, it's okay, really. I'm also a messy person," we both laughed, just like how I laughed with Sophine when I told her that I'm a messy person.
"Okay. I'll play and you hear it. Try to make some amendments."
He then played the drums. But, his expression was dull when he played. So that was the problem.
"So... how was it?"
"It's okay. But you don't really feel the music, you know? Here, I'll add some notes," I scribbled some notes onto the stave line.
He then started playing. Now this is way better. Even better than before.
"Yay! You got it right!" I said, throwing my arms into the air.
"Uh... yeah. I did get it right!"
We both high-fived until a rather familiar voice came out of nowhere.
"What are you doing here?"
