The sun poured in through the glass windows of the cafe. Sighing a young tired woman began scrubbing away the stain left on the table. Pouting and narrowing her eyes in concentration she had finally cleaned the annoying stain on the table. Lifting her hand she tucked a stray strand of her (h/c) locks behind her (s/c) ear. Taking a look at all the work she had just finished she picked up the grey bucket as well as the beige wash cloth.
"(F/N)!" A tender voice called out from behind the cash register. It was her co-worker Kara. Her curly brown locks cascaded down her colored shoulders, she had a bright twinkle in her eyes. She wore a red apron with your jobs logo plastered at the front.
"Hmm? What's up Kara?" (F/N) asked cocking your head to the side in question. She smiled with her white shiny teeth showing.
"Well... Your mom called." She started resting the palms of her hands on the red counter leaning on it. (F/N) rotated her hand leaning forward beckoning her onward.
"Remember that school you applied for? Well...." She bit her lip
"They accepted you!"The delighted young (h/c) woman's (e/c) irises widened at the news that had just left her mouth. She dropped the bucket on the ground it hit the tiles with a thump, jumping over the mess she had made. She ran over to her friend embracing her in a tight hug out of shock and happiness. She stiffened in the young woman's arms but she relaxed and hugged back. (F/N) pulled away squealing out of happiness.
"Oh god! I-I'm so happy I-"
"Haha, I can tell sweetie!" She chuckled ruffling your (h/t) (h/c) hair making a small nest for birds on your noggin. (S/C) hands went to (F/N) head fixing the mess that had just been made.
(F/N) had no idea how she would let her happiness out. She kept looking around the room excitedly.
"Go home." Kara broke the silence.
"I'm sorry?" (F/N) questioned not sure if she had heard her correctly.
"Go home, you need time to pack." She smiled softly.
She shook her head, (h/c) locks flying. Looking up furrowing her eyebrows she replied
"I just got here! I can't leave!"Kara waved her hand as if dismissing all of the girl's worries.
"Relax! I'll work your shift!" She grabbed the younger womans shoulders turning her around and pushing her out the door, along with her objecting. She ruffled her hair one more time before closing the door. You pursed your lips and clicked your tongue.
"Figures." You sighed. You were grateful of Kara doing this for you though. You spun on your heel and started your way home.
The air around your home was different when you walked up the path to your front door. Pulling your keys from around your neck you pushed the correct key into the lock. Turning the metal key to the left you earned a click indicating the door was unlocked. You opened the door looking around looking for your family. You closed the door behind you. Before you could open your mouth your mother came rushing into the living room.
"(Y/n)! You're home! Did Kara tell you?" Your mother asked eyes widened with hope. You nod with a goofy grin plastered across your face. She pulls you into a tight embrace you could tell she was excited.
Suddenly your father staggers into the room bit flabbergasted. Your mother steps out the way of him before he grabs onto your shoulders gently.
"Is it true?" He questioned. Eyes widened with hope. You nodded a wide smile. He collapsed on the sofa in relief.
"Now I don't have to give people refunds for renting your room."
"WHA-"
"Anyway! Sweetie we are so proud of you! We even packed for you!" Your mom beamed.
"Come again?" You asked
"We packed for you."
"Mom..."
