I flexed my fingers, letting the muscles tighten before relaxing again. I felt restless, wanting to go out on a mission, like my brother, Ogami.
Ogami isn't really my brother. I'm an orphan, and he took me under his wing. He was forced to take me on and train me, though I was a pest to him. But we've understood each other over the years, and he's come to be like my real older brother.
"Ini." Ogami called. 'Ini' is his nickname for me. My real name is Inazuma Kiru.
"Yes?" I answered.
"You seem agitated. Do you need to spar again?"
"Probably." According to Ogami, thirteen was the 'rebellious' age.
"Then let's go." He lead me into the park. It was dark, the brightest things being the moon and stars overhead.
"You ready?" He asked.
"Yup."
He pulled off his black glove, blue flames engulfing his left hand. I smirk, and let the familiar sparks of electricity flow through my fingers, from my wrist to my fingertips.
Ogami makes the first move. Without warning, he launches a blue ball of flame at me. It's a new stunt he's picked up from one of his many missions, but I'm prepared for it.
Clasping my hands to make a finger gun, I point it straight at the ball of flame and concentrate. Crackling white strands of electricity shoots down my arms and off my pointed index fingers in a bolt of lightning. It slices the flames apart, though not as neatly as I would've liked. But it got the job done.
See, that's basically the only useful battle move I know. My only other trick is a jolt of static, but that requires physical contact. And physical contact is not something you want with a guy on fire.
Ogami nods in approval. "Very good. You've gotten that move under control now. Now try this." He lunges forward, his fist drawn back as if to punch me. Except his fist is surrounded by a blue fireball.
I know how to handle this move, too. I slide right under his fist and touch his knee, sending a jolt of static through my finger. His knee gives way, and he struggles to stand.
I smirk again. "Immobilization. One of the more handy things about electricity."
Ogami smiled. "Very good again. You've improved. Perhaps you're ready for your own mission. Until then, shall we?"
I grit my teeth. "Yes."
He nods. "Let's go."
He takes my hand in his own, the one not covered by the glove, and leads me down the street. We're supposed to assasinate some political figure tonight, in another of those special abilities research laboratories.
"Hey, Rei, are you sure you'll be okay, without Sakura?" I ask. I'm the only person that calls him by his first name, and he only responds to it if I say it. It just shows how close we are.
"Yes, Ini. I'll be fine. You just worry about yourself, alright?" He smiles, his blue eyes twinkling. People say that Rei only smiles at me, and sneers at all others. Sakura thinks he's a cold-blooded murderer. I like Sakura, but I couldn't care less what she thought.
I sigh, taking a deep breath of the cool night air. My hair gets blown across my face, and I push the strands away. My hair, unlike Ogami's, is a reddish purple. My eyes are a mix of blue and purple, so different from Ogami's ice blue irises. In fact, he says that I look like a miniature Sakura. Even our hair is about the same length, reaching our waists.
Ogami stops in front of a huge building, like a mansion. It's surrounded by tall black gates with barbed wire at the top.
He looks at me. "You know what to do."
I nod. Extending my finger out, I poke the fence. Immediately, it crackles to life with arcs of electricity. "Hmm, as expected. Should I overload it, or suck it dry?"
Ogami looks serious. "Better to suck it dry. You'll need your power."
"Okay, Rei." I place both hands on the gate. The electricity, which would've fried Ogami to a crisp, doesn't bother me at all. I focus, and begin absorbing the electricity into my body.
Soon, I've drained most of it. It's safe for Ogami to touch the fence, though he'll get a little static shock. Then I bust the keypad sealing the gate and kick it open. Ogami walks through first. He has this rule that he's to be the first to enter unknown areas. I think it's to protect me.
Ogami looks around. "All clear. However, drain that security camera, would you?"
"Magic word?"
"Please." He relents.
I giggle. "Okay, then." I place a finger on the security camera and drain it of electricity. Then I drain the lasers and more electric wiring around the premises.
"All done." I finally announce.
He looks over my work. "A good job, as usual."
I frown, looking around. "Isn't Toki supposed to meet us?"
"Yes, but he's late, as usual."
I sigh. "Bad Toki. Maybe I should get him a watch for Christmas next time."
"Why would I need a watch?" A voice asked. I whirl around. A blonde haired boy strides towards us. It's Toki, the cheeky seventeen year old boy I had become good friends with.
"Toki!" I smile, then put my hands on my hips. "You're late again."
He shrugs apologetically. "Sorry. I got lost."
Ogami groans. "Enough cheerful greetings. We have business here."
"Of course, Ogami." Toki grins. "Let's get going, Inazuma."
"Right." I bounce along behind the two of them.
