Chapter 15 

After our little romp in the shower, I made something for Shaun to eat so he could change and get to work on time.  I didn’t know what was happening; it seemed like the more time I spent with Shaun, the more time I wanted to spend with him.

I had been avoiding Kevin all week; I haven’t actually talked to him since the night of the engagement.  He’s been calling and I just let it go to voicemail.  Guess it’s time for me to stop ignoring him and call and talk to him about this engagement.

I’ve known for a while that I didn’t want to marry Kevin, in the beginning of the relationship he was attentive, loving, we spent time together going to the movies, going out to dinner, and weekend getaways. We would go to art museums, hikes and play miniature golf.  Now all Kevin does is work, work, work and then want to buy me gifts because he feels guilty for not spending time with me.

I was standing in the kitchen washing up the dishes I used to cook for Shaun when my phone rang making me snap out of my moment of deep thought.  I took a deep breath and answered the phone.                   

“Hello?”

“Well hello stranger”

“What do you mean stranger?”

"Well I have been calling you for the last week and all I get is your voicemail.”

“I thought you would have at least call me and let me know if you were ok or if there was anything you needed.”

“I’m ok; I’ve just been working a lot of hours because we have been short in the ER and most of the time when I get home I have been so tired all I wanted to do is take a shower, eat and go to bed.  I’m sorry I made you worry about me, but I’m ok.”

“No worries baby.  What are you doing right now?”

“Washing some dishes that were in the sink and after that I plan on going to the mall with Toni.  After that I am not sure what I’ll be doing after that.”

“Well when you are finished shopping with Toni, give me a call I want to take you somewhere.”

“You want to take me somewhere?”

“Yeah, I don’t want to tell you where, you don’t have to worry about anything, just bring your sweet little self ok?”

I thought about it and I owed him at least that much since I practically avoided him not taking any of his calls. 

“Ok, I will call you when we get back.”

“Sounds great babe, talk to you soon ok?”

“Ok, bye.”

Hmmm; I wonder what this man is planning now.  I hope we don’t have any more surprises like we did the other night.  I don’t know if I could handle that.  I shook my head and headed upstairs to get dressed and drive over to Toni’s house.  Having my doubts, I didn’t ponder it anymore I would wait and see what he has planned.
