Tap. Tap. Tap. Is the sound that my pencil is making as I tap it against my graffiti covered desk. Only 30 more mintues left in this god forsaken class! After what seemed like an eternity the bell signifying the end of Government class sounded.

" Miss Jackson, at least make an attempt to pretend like you're actually learning something yes?" I put on my best smile and respond to my Government teacher Mr. Turdley, " Well, maybe I would if you actually taught us something worth learning" I say in my sweetest voice and speed walk out the classroom before he can respond.

As Im walking down the hall, I smell that familiar scent of lavender and turn around to see my best friend Joy jogging up to me trying to catch up to me. She's dressed in her all black as usual. The perfect paradox right?

"Hey,(pant) Ora! Care to slow down?" I slow my stride to accommodate hers."Sorry, a habit." I smile. " So how was ole' turdhead's class?" She asks applying more of her ' Kiss me Charcoal' lipstick.
" Oh, the usual. Crappy and boring as ever." We both laugh. "Well at least I know what to expect today. No pop quizzes or anything right ?"
" Nope." I reply

She nods her head in approval and says "That's far out!" I laugh at the familiar words. She was totally in love with the show The Brady Bunch, and whatever catch phrases they said, you better believe she said it. " You really need to stop saying that, it' s so old!" I say to her between giggles.

"Well I guess I'm the only person who truly appreciates the last of genuine entertainment!" She declares with her arms folded. We both have a staring contest and then bust out in laughter.
"OK, maybe you're right." I say in my most serious tone. She fake glares at me and we proceeded to laugh again. Me being me however ruins the moment by snorting while laughing. I hear someone yell " Loser!" Another yells " What weirdos!" It doesn't phase me because I'm quite used to the stares and laughs. Me and Joy are quite the pair. We are total opposites. She tall, I'm short. I'm smart she's well... Joy. The list goes on but we are a great fit. We've been best friends since before... well, forever. I know I've always been different. I dont say this to brag but I'm probably the best looking girl at Cavont High. I have long, thick black hair that comes to my waist, almond shaped eyes with natural thick eyelashes, red plump lips, and brown eyes to kill for. I'm mediocre when it comes to the "girls" up top which us perfect. Because of all this, I've been bullied, ostracized, and excluded. My mom says that I got my looks from my great great great grandmother who was from Egypt. It was said that she was a direct descendant of Isis. Another reason why I was so different was because of my "abilities" I could tell when someone was pregnant, was in pain, and I was telepathic. I once saved Joys life using my telepathic "powers" to stop a bullet from hitting her spine during a store robbery.

"Dont worry about those idiots!" Joy replies snapping me out of my flashback. "I know thanks. Meet you at my house after school?" I ask. "Course, see you then!" She says. I continue to walk down the hall and ignore the stares and laughs. I ignore them because I know they' re jealous. Im special and I know theres always been something different about me.
