"AVIA!" Evan yells, quickly running in the direction Avia has left. He lifts the curtain up to go to the next room, where he had seen Daniella and Avia disappear. Nothing. Just a wall. But Evan doesn't question. His mind is waking up the lion deep within.
It's been half an hour pounding at the wall and sitting down in Daniella's living room, wondering, and the magic around him is wearing off, the pink walls turning dark and the couches turning hard. He looks into his leather pouch, his eyes feasting on two things: three magical glowing mint leaves, soft and delicate, and a piece of paper. His hand automatically reaches for the paper.
It wrote:
Evan,
It's true. I was right. I barely have any time to write this. Make tea for Avery with the leaves. Witness the miracle for me, ok?
Evan, you've been the bestest friend I could have ever asked for. Thank you :)
Goodbye I guess,
Avia
Nothing else matter. Not the Mint Leaves, not the fact Daniella is a witch, not anything. Nothing. Evan's hand trembles as he clenches the note, the lion inside him waking up, almost roaring. Avia he thinks, his hand bawling into fists Avia
Tears streak down his face as Evan walks toward a shelf. He spots a flask labeled with a skull: WARNING! WILL EXPLODE ALL SOLIDS IN A MINUTE AFTER TOUCH!
A look of determination crosses Evan's face. Evan takes out the glowing Mint Leaves with his fingers still wrapped around the paper. He closes his fingers around the Mint Leaves. Evan grabs the flask and pours it in his pouch, while spilling a lot on the floor intentionally.
With no hesitation, Evan runs out the door and drops the pouch with tears cascading down his face. He spots a small shed a while away and quickly sprints behind it. I shouldn't be doing this. I shouldn't be alive. I shouldn't be here. Evan thinks, but he feels the warmth of the Mint Leaves as Daniella's house and her secret garden inside explodes. At least Evan doesn't regret blowing up the house.
"For Avia." Evan mutters. He looks into a pocket of his backpack and takes a lighter out. A wild look of the lion reflects on his face. Evan lights the wooden shed on fire, but not before he grabs a wooden ladder from it. He runs to the blockage of branches and climbs quickers than he ever has as the branches start to eat up the ladder. He jumps over with no hesitation this time, the lion inside urging him to.
He could hear Daniella screaming but he doesn't care, it doesn't matter. None of it does.
"Oh little boy! You can't run away from a witch forever!" Evan can hear Daniella's voice faintly. He ignores her, running faster than the wind, faster than the lion inside of him.
He could feel things behind him, things that want to catch him, things that want to kill him, things that will get him someday, sometime. But he doesn't care. He just keeps running, the lion inside drowning in an ocean of tears
