~unknown POV~

A shadow had terrorized the land since before I could remember. It's name was Shev. That's what the ancient kings called him anyway. His powers where sickening, poisoning animals and plants. Where ever it went, famine hit the land. Drought always followed. Not a drop of rain ever fell when he was near.

Rumours say that it lives atop of a barren mountain, in an underground stronghold. Other people say he lives at the gates of Hell, so he can travel from his domain to ours easily. The kings claim he lives underground, weaving his way through a labyrinth of tunnels to get above.

But our story doesn't begin on top a mountain, or in a labyrinth. It begins in the small town of Siilth.

Two girls, both of their destinies intertwined inevitably, are born only days apart. Their fates interwoven like a silk tapestry, over lapping and joining an countless number of times. Piper and Griffin.

One whose mother is an Air Dragon.

One whose father was a powerful wizard.

That is where our story, begins.

*Unknown POV*

"Running, thats all I've been doing because of this blasted egg! This measly child is the centre of my discomfort!" a women carrying an egg thought ruefully. As the silver haired women rounded the corner she heard shouts. "Over here!" one yelled. She cursed, her feet were covered in a brown leather boot... And all her clothes, they would get ruined if she tried to fight! Pulling her hood closer around herself she dashed into yet another alleyway in the god forsaken town of Siilth. It was a miners city, known for wealth in coal and gold.

She just had to make it to the mountain. Her pale, ice blue eyes flicked towards the sky, it was a cloudless night. Thumps and the racket of armour thundered behind her. Biting her lip, the women turned the corner, careful not to run into anybody. Hugging the warm egg she felt vibrations starting to come from it.

"Damn," she muttered angrily, rounding the next corner. The kings guards were gaining on her, if she could reach the next corner maybe... the soft thwack of a bowstring being released told her in none other then an instant that she was going to be shot. Spinning, she reeled, protecting the hatchling. The arrow hit home, but not quite where the shooter wanted it to go. With a dull thud the arrow embedded itself into her arm.

Winching, the women prevented herself from crying out. She didn't want to give those soldiers the satisfaction they wanted. She didn't want to let them know that they could get her. Which they couldn't, besides, no one had captured her and lived to tell about it. It hurt like hell, yes. But she wasn't going to cry out. She was going to stay strong. No matter what the cost.

The ice eyed women wanted her daughter to be like that. And that women knew her daughter would be like that. She just knew...

Glancing over her shoulder, the women cloak slid off her shoulders, they were nearing the edge of town now, and soon, hopefully, she would be able to morph. If she didn't... No, she was going to get to safety. She was going to get her daughter to safely. Blood gushed form the arrow wound, steadily. She could already feel the blood loss effecting her. The light headedness struck her first.

Slowly, it got worst as she ran. Her heart beat thudded in her chest, it's started to feel weaker. 'Once I get outside of town Alec will be there,' she thought, biting her lip worriedly. It had been a risk going into town... But she had to make sure her dragonet would be healthy... She had seen a special doctor about it. And thankfully, the hatchling was healthy, as far as the person could tell... Anyways.

"Almost there," she muttered, another arrow landed by her heel. She could see the gates of the town, they were still open. She kept pumping her legs, the mysterious women got to the edge of the town, her breath coming out in gasps. "Alec!" She cried, searching the woods with strained eyes. Placing the blue egg in a hollowed log, she glanced behind her, the soldiers had caught up to her.

"Come and get me!" She cried, clutching her arm, the blood seeped through her fingers, staining them a crimson red. The light that the soldiers had been carrying swerved, following the bleeding women through the woods.
