Warm hands clamped onto her arms and yanked her from the chaos. Ellie coughed up smoke as the bag was yanked from her head. The first thing she recognised was Daryl.
"You're here!" She said quietly. Her head lolled from side to side as he guided her away, she was dizzy from the shock.
They ran through a dark street. Ellie heard shouts of alien voices and the sound of her groups feet hitting the bitumen. The group burst through a set of doors into another dark room. Ellie fell to the floor next to Maggie and Glenn. Once she regained her balance she stood up and rushed to her dad.
"Dad!" She croaked and they held each other in one another's arms. "How did you find us?"
"We had some help," he murmured back, "are you alright? What is this?" He gestured to the sheet that covered her.
She couldn't think of what to tell him, thankfully Glenn cut in.
"This was Merle!" He told Daryl.
Ellie let go of her dad to rummage through a set of drawers that Glenn had found a jacket in.
"My brothers this Governor?" Daryl replied, confused.
"No!" Ellie shot, "he's another asshole."
She found a huge zip up hoodie and some jeans. She hid in the corner to put them on. Ignoring the conversation, she slid the pants on. They were way to big, as was the hoodie. She zipped it up and found a rope for the jeans. It sort of fit but it was better than nothing.
"He's my brother," she heard Daryl whimper. She turned around and saw him standing there looking like a kicked puppy. She wanted to hug him, but refrained herself. She looked away.
"We need to go!" She muttered. "Give me a gun."
Her dad passed her his revolver that he had had since he was a cop. It wasn't her first preference but it was better than nothing.
"On three," her dad commanded, "stay tight."
Daryl rolled out a smoke bomb.
"One, two, three," he murmured, "go!" They burst back onto the streets.
Gunfire erupted from the first step Ellie took out of the small room. A man on a large wall fell down thanks to her dad. Their cover was blown and gunfire came from behind now as well. There were shouts, some from her dad, some from Daryl, some from the enemy. Ellie rushed forward after the group, still aiming for a few shooters taking cover within the wall. Smoke was everywhere. She heard another shout. This voice she recognised, though she had not heard it for so long. She saw a glimpse of someone. Could it be?
"Ellie!" Her dad yelled. She turned for a moment to look at him. A bulled whirred past her head.
"Ellie!" Her dad yelled again. She couldn't see him. Then she did. She took out a man who nearly shot her dad and ran to join the group in front of a door that was out of range from the bullets. She reloaded the revolver and took a shot in the direction of the enemy.
"We have to get to that wall!" Her dad yelled above the firing. She took another shot.
"I'll lay out some cover fire," Daryl yelled back.
"Me too!" Ellie added, also yelling.
"We should stick together," Maggie yelled in between shots.
"No way, Ellie!" He dad hissed at her.
A shot ricocheted off the bricks near Ellie's head.
"We don't have time for this!" Ellie swapped guns with Glenn who was carrying an assault rifle and ran out into the smoky street. She used what used to be an old park bench for cover. She fired the rifle at the silhouettes. She glanced across to see Daryl on the bench opposite her. He gave her a nod and then kept on firing.
