Agony. Pain and a chill that seemed to have reached my bones had me shivering violently. My whole body was sore and I groaned, opening my eyes.
I was in the same room. Rayne was nowhere in sight and the chains weren't on me. They lay to the side. I squinted and realized that I had pulled on them so hard that I drew blood.
"You're awake." A voice whispered from the doorway. I jerked my head up quickly, the fear already building inside. "I'm glad to see you're okay and concious." To my immense confusion, she had brought food and clothes. She sat down next to me, handing me the food and neatly folded clothes.
"Thanks." I mumbled, so deeply perplexed. Rayne had beat me and then was being gracious? It made as much since as a puzzle does to a blind person.
"How are you feeling?" She asked, gently touching the wound on my face and shoulder.
"Why do you care?"
"I guess I should've explained more huh?" I nodded. "Well my names Shey. My twins name is Rayne. I'm sorry for what it's worth. I noticed you and your scent and so did she. Being the stronger one kind of means she gets you." I stared at her, my mouth hanging open. What was I? Some sort of animal for them to 'catch'? Was I just property?
"I still don't know what the hell you're talking about." I answered, taking a drink of the cool soda she had brought me. My throat burned but it was soothed by the coolness.
"Now it may be hard to believe but.. we aren't human." She didn't elaborate so I continued to stare, taking a bite out of the sandwhich she had made. "We're vampires. We've been dead for over a hundred years." I choked, coughing after I managed to get it past my throat. I didn't know what to say to her. She was obviously just as crazy as her sister.
After a moment of complete silence in which she just stared, I laughed. Shey frowned, her brows furrowed in confusion. I laughed myself silent and she let me.
"Can I ask what's so funny?"
"That's just.. one of the craziest things I've ever heard." I chuckled into my hands. When I looked back, Shey was gone. It had only been a second.
"Over here." I looked up and she was by the door. I blinked and she was gone again. "Behind you." She whispered in my ear. I screamed, spilling the food all over as I jumped to my feet. I blinked again and she was inches from me.
"How the hell...?" I questioned, my voice quivering. Shey smiled and her canines had extended. She wasn't lying and that fact hit me hard. My legs went out from under me but she was quick and caught me, setting me down gently. I just sat there.
"Are you alright?" She asked, genuinely concerned with my well being. She kept her hand on my leg and I shivered. Not from the cold. Her touch sent shivers up and down my spine.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Just in shock.." I trailed off, feeling sick. "How did I go all my life without knowing vampires existed? God, that sounds crazy." I placed my face in my palms, shaking my head. Shey was silent. "This does not help my situation. What is your sister going to do to me?" I asked, feeling more helpless than ever.
"I'm not positive. She seems fond of you and your stubborness. She enjoys it when they fight. Most of the time, they just give up." Shey kept her hand on my leg, staring into my eyes. "I'll try to keep you safe. Be prepared for pain though. I cannot stop her."
"Or you don't care to." I retorted. She seemed hurt by the comment, biting her lip. "Why can't you get me out of here Shey? Please? God, I dont wanna die." Tears built in the corners of my eyes but I swallowed the lump in my throat and grabbed her hand. She flinched but held it.
"I will not let her kill you. I swear. I can smell the goodness and innocence in your blood. Trust me?" She raised her eyebrows at me and smiled.
Butterflies encircled my stomach. "I dont have much of a choice do I?" And I grinned weakly, fighting away the urge to kiss her.
Suddenly, her face dropped. "Rayne is coming. Listen to me closely okay? Do not give up. Fight her and she will keep you around longer. In the meantime, I'll come up with a plan to escape."
My vision blurred as fear paralyzed me. "Is it gonna hurt Shey? Will you stay with me?"
"You can't ask me to watch that. She will torture you and yes, it will hurt. For that, I am sorry. But shes coming closer. I must go." With some trouble, she pulled her hand from mine and we both stood.
"Please dont forget about me." I mumbled as we walked to the door together. She smiled, telling me without a word, that she couldnt forget about me.
Shey opened the door and left, carrying the tray which still held half of a plate of uneaten food. And with that, she was gone.
I was left alone in the forsaken room, knowing I only had moments before Rayne came back. Feeling exposed, I picked up the clothes she brought me, shocked to see that they were actually mine from my apartment. It was a simple band shirt and cargo shorts. With ease, I changed out of the dirt covered pants and into the shorts. As I took my shirt off, I fought the need to scream as my body ached from the abuse already suffered.
"You are really beautiful." An evil voice whispered, close behind. I froze, covering up my bare chest as Rayne stepped towards me. "Almost as pale as one of us." She mocked, tracing my naked shoulders with her cold fingers. I shivered in disgust and pulled away.
Immediately, I knew that was a mistake. She grabbed a handful of my hair and pulled me in close. "What have I told you about rejection? Now put your arms out to your sides. I want to see you." I groaned in protest, too full of pride. "Do you enjoy the chains because I can put them back on you if you would like?"
"Please just let me put my shirt on. Please Rayne." I begged, my face becoming crimson as I thought of her seeing me exposed. She simply laughed in my ear and threw me away from her. I didnt face her.
"Turn around to me Olivia. And if you don't, I will get a whip out. A more.. exquisite one." Rayne smile widely, showing her canines. I began shaking again, gritting my teeth. "I figured so I happened to bring it anyway." And before I could even look, a blazing hot pain shot across my back, ending at the waist line of my shorts. I screamed, turning around instantly, dropping my arms.
"Ahh. Good girl." She smiled wickedly and I glanced down at the whip. It was a bright red with long leather tentacles that ended in frayed material. The fraying had dug into my back. I could feel the blood running down to my shorts, staining them. I looked away, embarrassed.
Rayne stepped closer, placing her hand just above my left breast. I shook but didnt pull away from her. She began moving her hand down, running her fingers in between them and farther to my stomach, resting her two fingers on my shorts. She smiled at me, wanting more.
"Please Rayne. Please dont do this." I quivered, unable to look her in the eyes. She simply laughed and in her moment of unawareness I took off for the door. "Shey! Please Shey! Get me out of here!" I screamed, banging helplessly on the door.
Rayne was behind me in just a second, placing her hand over my mouth and pushing me against the cold metal door. My bare chest pressed uncomfortably against it.
"Do you really think she'll come save you? Right! She wouldnt dare challenge me." Rayne laughed hysterically, dragging me backwards, throwing me to the floor. With no time to react, she had the chains around my wrists again. I was trapped..
