My name is PRIMROSE EVERDEEN. I LIVE IN DISTRICT 12.

I am twelve years old. I am old enough to participate in the 74th annual hunger games. I have a sister and a mother, my father died in an accident. So now our family relies on my sister Katniss for food. This will be my first year to enter so I can't get picked, I just can't.

I wake up in the morning another nightmare. I have been having them in the past month. My nightmares are about my name being picked. The only person that can comfort me is my sister. Tomorrow is reaping day, I hope ,oh I hope I don't get picked.

I wake up in the morning she is gone. Well I should be used to that by now but she never leaves on reaping day. Don't worry prim I am sure she is talking to gale. Or she could be at the hob. ( the hob is a black market in a abandoned warehouse). Anyway, before I know it I am outside milking my goat Lady. My cat buttercup is right beside me, I can always sneak some milk into his mouth.

Everyone has to be at the town center at 1:00 sharp where Effie Trinket reads the names of this years tributes. It is 10:00 right now so I should get ready. My mother gets the tub and fills it with warm water by boiling it I have to bathe. Once I get out I feel fresh and clean. I see what I have to put on it was Katniss' when she was 12.

It is a blue skirt and shirt almost like a dress. The skirt fits but it is the shirt that is pretty big. I almost look like a little duck. My mother braids my hair in two with blue ribbons. That's when Katniss arrives she looks kind of angry and sad. I ask her, " what's wrong?"

" the stupid hunger games that's what!"

" Katniss calm down someone will hear you."

" good! Let everyone listen to what I have to say! I Katniss EVERDEEN hate the Capitol and the hunger games! "

" Katniss please! "

It takes a few minutes to calm her down, but I finally make her sit down, and stop screaming. My mother makes her bathe too. She gets a pretty dress, not like my ugly dress. My mother makes her a top braid. She looks so pretty. It is 11:30 when I check the time.
