Wake up, go to school, come back home, eat, sleep. Same routine everyday for Jess. But not today......

Jessica Rebelle, a 15 year old Freshman at Green Lakes High School has a great life behind and ahead of her. Nothing hardly ever falls out of place for Jess. She has what some say a "perfect life". All was perfect... until this morning when Jess came down for school.

Jessica never leaves the house for school without something to eat, so she went in the kitchen for a healthy breakfast. Her mom, dad, and her two brothers were down there as well. Right as she started heating up some apple cinnamon oatmeal, her brothers headed out the door for their bus. They were late anyway (as usual). But Jess didn't hardly pay any attention to them. she was too busy humming the tune to her favorite song, Flashlight, by Jessie J.

When she was done, she headed for her coat and almost went out the door before something caught her eye: A shiny brown leather book with gold trim was peeking out of a box labeled "Family Memories" on the top shelf of the hall closet. Jess had never seen the book before and wondered what could be inside. 'I still have 15 minutes until my bus comes....why not?' she thought to herself. So Jess tried to grab the book and pull it out underneath 5 other heavy books on top of it. When she finally got the photo album down, she started to look through it. She was having a great time down memory lane of the Rebelles.

But by the time she got to page 2 of the photo album, she saw something that left her in confusion. A little girl. A little girl standing right by Jess in a picture that looked exactly like her. "How can this be? 'Jess & Jade eat their first piece of cake on their 1st birthday party!'? Who's Jade?" She was drowning herself in these questions about this little girl. Who could Jade be? Was she just a look-alike friend that came over a lot and ate their first piece of cake together? And shared the same birthday together? and matching clothes?? matching highchairs??' Jess was looking at every detail in the picture. She just couldn't believe her eyes. A second after bringing her mind back to school, she looked over at the time and she less than 3 minutes to get on the bus. So she grabbed her coat and stuck the picture of the duo in her coat pocket.

Just then, the stack of books that were on top of the album started to lean and fall on Jess's head causing her to fall down. Moments after that, Jess's parents run in after hearing the loud thud from the hallway. "Jess! Are you ok??" you could hear the worriness in her mother's voice. "Jess, Hun, you alright?" her father said helping her up as he saw the picture of Jess and Jade at their birthday party fall out of Jess's pocket. "What is that? Why do you have that??" Jess's father asked her, slightly raising his voice, pointing to the picture. Jess's mother saw the open photo album on the ground with a picture missing out of the top right corner. "You are never to go through stuff without permission from us. Got it?" her mother said as she picked up the photo of the two on the ground.

"I-I-was just look-" Jess began to say right before she got cut off by her father. "Never do this again. You know better.". Jess felt an urge to explain, but knew her parents wouldn't care. "Can I help clean up?" Jess asked looking at the big pile of open page books that fell, with a small sense of fear creeping up for asking. "No. you're gonna miss the bus if you do. put your shoes on and go outside." Her mother said with a small tone of annoyance in her voice. So Jess went outside and waiting for the school bus until it came.

As the big yellow school bus stopped at the front of Jess's house, Jess hesitated for a minute to get on the bus. She felt like she made her parents mad and annoyed. And she felt bad about them cleaning up the book mess.
