As Caleb leads me to where ever he's taking me, I can only think of those guys I saw back there. What was their problem? I ask myself.
"Okay, here we are." He says, while climbing up a ladder to an amazingly built treehouse. While I was following him, I wasn't even looking where we were going. I was too busy thinking. We had headed into some woods. Nobody could see us. Can I trust him?
I glance back one more time, and follow him up the ladder. Wow. Beautiful, light brown wood, filled the walls, ceiling, and the flooring. It was smooth, and shiny. A small, but cute desk sat in the corner of this large tree house. When I say large, I mean huge. Especially for a treehouse. There were books, on a book shelf of course, a small couch, a bed, and many other things. It was stunning.
"This place is amazing." I say, in astonishment.
"Trust me, I know.." Caleb says with a smile on his face.
"Well..... Why did you bring me here? To kill me?" I say in a laughing tone.
"Trust me Emma, I'm not going to kill you. Though some people do want to...." He laughs at first, but puts on a straight face after his last sentence.
"What? Why? What did I do? I'm new here.." I say, feeling helpless.
"Emma, it's not your fault. Not at all. Don't worry, I'm here to help you. But you have to trust me first." He says looking into my eyes, deeply. They are a bright green, and so beautiful.
"Ugh.... It's hard to trust people you've just met." I say, sure of my words. Stand your ground.
"Emma.... You will trust me after I tell you everything. I promise."
Ugh... Maybe I should? I don't know... Oh shit. What time is it?
I look at my watch. 6:11pm.
"Uhhhh could we continue this tomorrow? Here? I was supposed to be home at 6:00pm."
"Urrghhh, fine. Be here at 3:00 sharp. We need to talk. And if you don't come, I'll find you." He says, seriously.
I give a nervous smile, and climb down the ladder, heading back out of the woods. I hope I can find my way home easily. After a few minutes, I'm actually walking up my steps, to my house. Finally. I check my watch one more time. 6:37pm. I hope dads not worried. As I walk in the door, my dad comes walking straight towards me. He gives me a hug.
"I missed you at work today. I was starting to get worried about you being here so late.." He says quietly.
"I missed you too. I had a walk around town, I just got a little lost that's all.." I lie. I'm not going to tell him anything until I find out myself what's going on, or he'll never let me out of the house again. Yeahs I know, my dads very protective. He was in the army for 7 years after high school. Now he's 36, and he's working at a bakery. Great just huh? Not. But I sure do love him...
