Protector (Chapter One)

Eren's POV

     I walked into the cafeteria with my 2 friends, Armin and Mikasa. As usual, it was a mad house as we always entered. "Can't this place ever just be peaceful..." Armin mumbled. "Let's just get our food and go sit down." I groaned. Mikasa and Armin nodded in agreement as we continued our way to the lunch line. We got our food and then sat at our table. Everything was going well until Jean came over and sat next to Mikasa. I could feel my blood boiling as he started to look at her. It was noticeable that Mikasa was uncomfortable with Jean looking at her like a stalker. So, I decided to ask him why he was over at our table. "Jean, why are you over here with us and not back with Marco?" I growled at him. He then looked at me and smirked while saying "Because I did not want Mikasa to feel alone while sitting with you and Armin." Armin looked offended since he and Jean always got along, but it was understandable that Jean would try to insult me. Then, he started to move his hand to Mikasa's and then I had enough of it. I got up and walked over to him and began to punch him in the face. He tried to fight back, but I caught his arms and then kicked him onto the ground and repeatedly punched him. After a minute, I got tired and stopped. "Don't you ever try to touch Mikasa again or I will not stop next time!" I yelled at him. Armin walked over to him and checked on him. "I don't think he heard you Eren." Armin mumbled to me. Suddenly, Marco ran past me and went to Jean's side. He then picked him up and carried him off. Mikasa then walked over to me. "Thank you Eren..." She whispered to me. I looked at her and said "No problem." For some reason, Shadis did not come in to see what happened. That's weird, he must have not heard the fight over all the talking. Everything went back to normal, or at least by the standards of the cafeteria.

3rd person POV

     Eren and his friends went back to eating and chatting about what today will be like. "So Eren, would you like to train with me today?" Mikasa asked Eren while slightly blushing. No one noticed but Eren that Mikasa was blushing since he was the only one she was really comfortable around. "Sure Mikasa, that sounds good." She smiled a little and went back to eating. Finally, the bell rang and everyone got up and headed to the training grounds. Armin went off to find Krista since they usually trained together a lot while Eren and Mikasa went to find a open area. They finally found a good area and were about to begin until they were interrupted by someone. Annie walked over and was glaring at Mikasa and the shifted her gaze to Eren. Eren was confused and wondered why Annie would be looking at him. She then started to walk closer to Eren. "Uhh.. Annie what are you doing?" Eren nervously laughed as he backed up. Mikasa could tell Eren was getting really nervous with Annie approaching him so she decided to step in. Mikasa got in front of Annie and asked "Annie, what are you doing?" Annie then glared at her and hissed back. "I'm getting MY training partner..." Mikasa instantly got angered at Annie for what she said. Mikasa crossed her arms and said "Annie, me and Eren are training together today." Annie's eye began to twitch and then she ran forward yelling "Like hell you are!" Mikasa dodged Annie and Eren also did. Eren got behind Mikasa as Annie started to come at them again. "Don't make me do this Annie.." Mikasa said while remaining calm. Annie charged again and growled "Do what?!" In a split second Mikasa had Annie pinned onto the ground. Then, Reiner and Bertholdt came over. "We'll take her from here..." Reiner said while picking up Annie. "Sorry for the trouble she caused, we will be going." Bertholdt said as him and Reiner walked off with Annie. Eren and Mikasa could see Annie trying to break from Reiners grasp, but she could not. Eren sighed and said "Finally, we can train together with no distractions.." Mikasa nodded and then her and Eren got into their fighting stances. After about a hour of training they were taking a break. "Mikasa, could you please not hold back?" Eren groaned as he drank some water. Mikasa also got something to drink and then said "I don't want to hurt you Eren, you know that..." She said while they sat together on a bench. Eren sighed and said back "I know that, but could you at least go a little harder? It's like fighting a tree, it does not do anything back." Eren mumbled. Mikasa then gave him a glare and said "So you think I have the equivalent amount of fighting of a tree?" She growled to Eren. Oh shit, she looks mad now, she will totally beat me up since I made her mad. "No Mikasa, I didn't mean it like tha-" Eren could not finish what he was saying since Mikasa pushed him to the ground and had him pinned. Eren started to blush since Mikasa was on top of him. Mikasa noticed and she too, began to blush. He could feel her grip get weaker and he used that to his advantage. In one swift movement, Eren flipped Mikasa off of him and got on top of her. She was too surprised to react and her face was bright red. "Now who's on top?" Eren whispered as he let out a smirk. Mikasa rolled her eyes and then threw Eren off of her. Mikasa got up and said "Looks like I'm on top now." Mikasa said while smiling. Eren rolled his eyes and got up.

Eren's POV

     "Alright Mikasa, you win..." I sighed in defeat. She smiled at me and let out a laugh. My eyes widened as I heard her laugh. It has been so long since I heard her laugh. She seemed surprised as much as I was. I got up and went over to her and grabbed her hand. I started to lead her back to our spot where we were training. I let go of her hand and walked a couple feet away from her. She had a big blush on her face and I laughed when I saw her. "What's wrong Mikasa? Heat too much for you?" I laughed at her. Her blush only deepened and she growled "Shut up Eren..." I chuckled and then said "Let's get back to training." She nodded her head and we continued to train for a while until it was time for dinner. Me and Mikasa met up with Armin and Krista and we walked into the cafeteria. We all got our food and headed to our table. I could see Ymir giving Armin a glare and then she got up and walked over. She sat down with us and when she saw how happy Krista was with us, her mood seemed to lighten. Then, I saw Annie walking to our table. She sat next to me and did not make eye contact. Mikasa was on the other side of me and she was glaring at Annie. I felt nervous to have Annie next to me, but I acted normal. Finally Armin spoke up "So did you guys hear that we are starting 3DMG tomorrow?" Excitement quickly took over my body. "Really? That's great!" I said full of excitement. In the corner of my eye I saw Mikasa smile at me. Ymir then stated "I bet I will beat all of you in a race!" I looked at her and smirked "In your dreams Ymir, I'm gonna be the fastest out of everyone!" I yelled while standing up. She also stood up and then said "Sounds like a challenge? How about we race tomorrow to see who's faster?" With out thinking I quickly said back "Yeah! We will settle this tomorrow." Then Mikasa grabbed me and pulled me back down. "Calm down Eren, your drawing everyone's attention from the cafeteria. As I looked around I saw everyone looking at me. Suddenly, one person said "I'm gonna be the fastest!" Then another said the same thing and before I knew it everyone was arguing who was going to beat who. Finally, some one said "How about we all race tomorrow to see who's the best!" Everyone agreed and then dinner went back to normal. As I was almost done eating, I felt someone tap my shoulder. It was Annie and she was looking at me again. I then asked her "What is it Annie?" Her face got red and she then spoke "Can I talk to you outside for a minute?" Mikasa then grabbed my arm but I nodded my head and she let go and went back to eating. Me and Annie walked out and sat on a nearby bench. She looked at me and then grabbed my hand. I looked into her eyes and then she said. "Look Eren, I'm sorry for what happened earlier today, it's just that..." She stopped. "It's just what Annie?" I asked her. She gulped and then looked at me and said "I like you..." I backed up, but regained my calmness from before. "I'm sorry Annie but I like someone else..." I said back to her. She then let go of my hand. "Oh, ok.." She whispered. She stood up and said "I'll be going." I nodded and said "See you later Annie." With that she walked off into the darkness. Man, today was a crazy day, I better get back to the cafeteria before Mikasa starts to worry. I walked back in and returned to my table. Mikasa looked worried as always and as soon as I sat down she asked "What did Annie want?" After a couple seconds of debating if I should tell her I just said it. "She confessed she has feelings for me." Mikasa's eyes widened and then she looked angry and was about to get up until I stopped her. "Don't worry Mikasa, I don't like her..." I whispered. She looked back at me and then sat down. She looked at me and then asked "Who do you like then?" I was about to reply until the bell rang signaling us to return to our dorms. I sighed and said "I'll tell you tomorrow, ok?" She then nodded and walked off. After Armin said "Bye" to Krista, me and him went to our dorm. When we walked in, we saw Jean wrapped in bandages glaring at me. Marco was also glaring but I just shook it off and climbed into my bunk. I slowly closed my eyes and then drifted to sleep.
