Okay ^^ , just warning you it is a bit graphic.
I'm near The Bailey Theatre with my sis and Tyra. I've got my backpack and it only has minimal supplies, unfortunately. We were looking for a place to bunk down, some safe zone that could hold off the enemy for a while.
We are walking around, in the blazing heat eyeing out houses. We are looking for one with a great vantage point, high windows, secure perimeter.
The streets are completely deserted, papers and missing posters flutter in the wind. It had only been a couple days after the initial out break, and nearly everyone has left or have died
Growls start coming from the end of the street. Time to move. I hand signalled my group. They nodded. We picked up the pace and headed for a nearby set of stairs that climbed way up the hillside
We swiftly move up. I note the covered roof and how the sides are covered in chain link fence. After a few solid minutes of climbing we reach the top. Good, more houses.
I mention to my sis that maybe we should go to our dad's house, as it has most of the qualities we were looking for. We talked for a second about it and decided it actually wasn't great. We cautiously crossed the alley ways, weaving in and out of streets, only the gravel crunching under each step
Aha! This house is perfect. My sis and I look at each other in delight. High strong walls, windows up to, flat roof, heavy duty door. Yes!
I went for the handle.
"Damn it! Locked" I cursed under my breath. I guess we'll have to scale the drain pipe and ledges. I handed them my bag and told them to keep guard. With my knife in between my teeth (walkers were probably inside) I advanced up the pipe
I made it up about eight feet, then someone shouted at me. I looked up to see who it was, but the sun was to bright. I moved up a bit more and they threw a block of wood at me! It hit me across the side of the face and my knife slid and cut my cheek. Without a moments hesitation they threw a pile of wood and scrap metal at me.
It knocked me off balance and I slipped off the pipe. I twisted over and caught myself before bashing into the ground. Obviously we weren't welcome.
I spat the blood on the ground "Come on. We seriously need a place. It'll only be for a while." I asked
They angrily hissed back, "GO AWAY! Find your own place. "
I glared up at the two cowards sitting in their little safe zone
I asked once more, and, one of them brought out their rifle
He perched it on the window and smugly looked at me. I waved him off and told my group we'd have to relocate
It was no use fighting with an idiot who had a gun, and besides all that noise drew the walkers attention. We moved back to the staircase. Damn, damn, damn. There were more than I thought. About twenty had started shuffling out of their hiding spots.
Luckily they hadn't noticed us...yet. I took my pack and handed my other knife out to my sis. We moved back to the staircase. I decided we'd camp out in familiar territory. as we moved down the stairs, some old guy yelled really loud at us
I glared at him. He yelled again, this time I heard what he was saying..
"There's a hole in the staircase roof. It leads to a safe house!"
I nodded back and casually saluted him.
We jogged to it. The hole was 2x2ft square cut into the roof. and a piece of metal was put under it so you could climb on. Safety was just a jump away! Yes
