You know what's really funny about Lee's deams? They are like dead opposite of mine.

(In other news, I use the word "Like" like a [Insert derrageatory term here])

Like last night I had a dream about my OTP, which has been my first dream in four months.

My last one was about this story.

Well that's not entirely true, because last night's dream gave birth to insparation to my new computer password.

I hope to God I never have to give anyone that password.

-

"Dammit Anna!" I sout, my voice echoing across the entire town. She can hear me, I know it.

I stomp across the dead grasss and over some random wild flowers. Why does she have to be so difficult? Can't she see that we're fucked if she doesn't show up, right now? In the distence, I can see darkish smoke curling up from the forest.

I could use my psycic-magical-future-seeing-thingy, but I'm not going to do it. I don't think I can.

No, I'm not going to expand on the statement at all.

I hear something, far off in the town, the...

Holy mother of all that is holy.

Anna is coming down the road in a car. Like driving the car.

It's a fucking sports car.

A red convertable sports car, which may or may not be the worst idea ever. But I don't care, because this means that for at least a few minutes, I'll be driving a sports car.

I never really liked American cars much, but even so, I've wanted to ride around in a convertable for like forever.

"Anna, you-" I start, ginning at the kid. She's wearing a pair of massive sunglasses that she has to push back up on to her face every five seconds.

"No time to explain, just get in." She said in her version of a laid back voice.

I laughed.

I don't know how long it's been since I've laughed like that, but it feels good.

In under ten minutes, we're speeding along the broken road. A bubble rises in my chest again, making me feel almost sick.

"Are you good?" Anna asked. The reek of burning wood was strong in my nose.

"I'm fine." I reply, which isn't entirely true.

"So can I ask a question?"

"You just did." I reply, which I know she won't get.

"What? That sounds like a yes to me. Okay, why did he call you Cassy?"

"Cassidy. He called me Cassidy. That's because..." How the hell do I explain this to her? "When I met you and Ernist I thought that I was a new person. I know better now, though. We can never escape ourselves."

"So should I-"

"No, I'm Lee. I'm still Lee. Just forget about it, okay?"

I highly doubt that she will, but it's worth a shot.

Ten minutes later, Anna asks, "Lee?"

"What?" I reply, not even attempting to hide the discontempt in my voice.

"What's there to eat?"

I'm right.

We never change, not really.
