Stolen Kisses

The news.

It was a weekend in may.
I was at home as usual studying for my half yearly exam the following week. And then the phone rang.

It was the hospital telling me that my father was in an accident, he was run off the road on his way home by a guy texting on his phone, he didn't have a scratch on him while be father's body was too mangled beyond any recognition, I was left without a family since my mum died giving birth to me, or so I thought. Turns out I have an aunty in Australia and she is the closest thing I have to family. So I am packing up and moving to Australia.

"Ella! Come on we have to make your flight" Alina called from downstairs, Alina was my dad's best friend, her and her husband had taken me in since my fathers funeral two weeks ago.

The flight was fairly quick considering I slept through most of it, as I was leaving the baggage claim I saw a tall lady with short brown hair waving a sign with my name written in black. I collect my bags and walk over to her "Ellania!?" she grins at me I nod slowly and before I can do anything else i am enveloped in a tight hug "I am guessing you are my Aunt Sophia?" I question her and she grins nodding at me, she leads me to the front of the airport and out into the parking lot we stop infront of an old rusty truck with Andie's written in acrylic writing "my husband worked at Andie's mechanical business now he works with me" she explains like it's something that everyone already knows.

I didn't even take notice of where we were unil the truck stopped at a largish two story house with brick walls, there was one really big tree out the front and a small white dog barking ferociously at the truck "that's lillybell" Sophia says as she gets out of the truck, I get out and grab my bags from the back of the truck and walk with her to the house. It reminds me of my old house, my dad would flash his high beams at my window every time he came home from work so I know it's just him, I continue thinking about my dad and all the memories we had together since it was just me and him for the past 17 years "Evangelina this is my husband Edie and our son Michael" Sophia smiles at my "hi" I reply shyly to them, I look at Edie who is grinning at me same as Sophia, I look over to Michael who just looks a bit bored he has black hair with purple highlights and I have to say it looks amazing. "Michael can you please show Ellanl-" "please just Elle or Lana" I cut her off "oh sorry love, show Elle to her room please" Sophia finishes and points down the hallway to a set of stairs, I pick my stuff back up and follow him up the stairs "so what's New York like?" he says "very loud an pretty smelly" I reply "oh, so this is your room mine is right next door so if you need anything just bang on the wall" he smiles at me and pushes to door open and walks back downstairs, I push i open fully and nearly choke on my own tongue.

"Do you like it?" a voice says from the doorway, I spin around and see Sophia standing behind me "it's exactly the same as my room in New York" I say still in shock, well i've been in shock ever since I got the news that my father had died and I haven't really accepted it yet, sure I know he's not coming back and all but I just can't deal with knowing im an orphan now. "Eve?"she questions me causiously like I am a china doll about to break into a million pieces "Eve are yo-" she starts but I stop her "Im fine" I smile at her trying to cover up the fact that I am not fine at all. Sophia left me to unpack my stuff a while ago and by now it's probably around 7pm "ELLE!? GET DRESSED WE ARE GOING OUT FOR DINNER TONIGHT!" Edie calls from downstairs I look through my dresser trying to find a decent outfit but I don't have many fancy clothes "hey eve, mum said to tell you we are leaving soon" Michael says from the doorway "okay" I answer him still looking for something to wear. I found a nice black skater skirt and my ALT (All Time Low) grey sleevless top I tuck in the front off it to the skirt and pull on my black converse "ELLE" Sophia calls this time "coming!" I call back and start jogging down the stairs "nice shirt!" Michael says sounding semi impressed he probably likes ALT as well "thanks" I grin at him and we start walking to the door "oh! wait i'll be right back" he stops and begins running back up the stairs, he comes back a few seconds later carrying a red flannel "here try this on" he hands it to me and I slip my arms through the holes "it's so comfy!" I pull it around me and thank him before we head to their car where Sophia and Edie are waiting "SO! where do you want to go? Nice outfit by the way Eve the hair suits it well" Sophia winks at me laughing, what? I look into the front camera on my phone and realize it's still in the messy pony tail from this morning "oh crap" I laugh a little and pull the hair tie out letting my hair fall onto my shoulders and down my back "shall we go to pappa jones?" Edie suggest looking into the rear view mirror "YES!" Michael and Sophia say in unison "it's a pizza place you'll love it" Michael explains noticing my confusion.

It took about 10 minutes to get there and get seated "so Elle, how are you liking Australia?" Edie asks me breaking the comfortable silence "it's not as hot as everyone says it is, other then that it's pretty good" I smile thinking about how my friend Ashley said she nearly melted when she came here two years ago "that's because it's only spring, wait till it's summer" he laughs as the little bell above the door rings signaling that a new costumer has come in "Michael?" someone says I turn in the direction it came from and see a really tall guy with blonde hair and a lip ring and stunningly blue eyes "Luke! hey" Michael says standing up and giving the guy a hug he is so small compared to the guy who seems to be named Luke "do you wanna eat with us or are you hear with Sarah?"he adds winking "yeah if that's okay" he grins and I must admit he is gorgeous! "oh Luke honey you can eat with us if you want to" Sophia says motioning to the seat across from me, he walks over and sits down "hi?" Luke looks at me questioningly "oh! Luke this is Ellaina, she's moved here from New York" Sophia explains "oh okay cool, nice shirt" Luke smiles at me "thanks" I shyly say.

Dinner was good and Luke seems nice, he didn't really talk to me though it was mostly just everyone else talking and me just sitting there eating my pizza and minding my own business. When we got home I went straight up to my room and got changed into my jimmy jams (pj's) I walk over to Michaels room and knock on the door "come in" he half yells, I open the door and see him sitting on his bed playing call of duty on his xbox 360 "oh hey Elle" he looks at me for a split second before going back to his game "hey, I am just returning this" I say putting the flannel on the bed "no Elle you can keep it, it looks better on you then it does on me" he laughs pausing his game "and plus I have like 5, one less can't hurt" he grins at me "okay, thanks" I reply and walk back to my room closing his door on my way, I crawl into my bed and check my phone for any messages, none. I put it up on my desk and turn my lamp off and let myself fall asleep.
