Aesop and I sat in a hug for what seemed like the best moment of my life. I rested my head on his chest and listened to his heart beat strong.

"I love you too", He whispered breathlessly.

We backed up from each other and stared into each other's eyes. Everything stood still. Finally he began laughing. I started laughing and cherished his smile. He stopped and stared at me with a smile. He took my hand and we walked back to pick up my spilled groceries.

"Come over to my house. T-there's someone I want you to meet". I didn't even think about it twice I followed him.

"Here you can put your groceries inside our fridge". He smiled at me as he pressed the intercom button on the side of an apartment building. "Hey, Thomas. Y-yeah i-it's me". Someone on the intercom said, "Oh yeah c'mon in man". We walked in and I held on to Aesop's arm. We passed by who I assumed was Thomas and he waved as we made our way up the stairs. I clung close to him seeing as there was more than one person asleep on the stairs and I could her crashes and screams from one of the apartments.

"It's okay", he whispered and put his arm around my waist pulling me closer to him as we passed a man pinning a girl down to the wall and whispering furiously in his ear. It made me feel protected and loved, Aesop wouldn't have stood a chance against that guy in a fight, but the fact that he'd fight for me put me at ease. We stopped in front of door number 12. I could here a woman yelling inside and laughter. Aesop took out a key and turned it in the lock. We stepped inside and it was quiet for a moment, then there was a large burst of laughter and greetings. Dozen's of kids around our age came up to Aesop welcoming him home and giving him hugs.

"Hey everybody"! he gave some people hugs and other bro hand shakes. I clung to his side. "Here Absynthe, this is my family". I stared up at the tons of people. They all seemed to be of different races and ages. I sat confused for a moment but politely said hello. Aesop smiled at me and took my hand. He lead me to one of the bedrooms. I walked into a small crowded room. There were four beds pressed right against each other on one side and three on the other. Above each bed was a different amount of posters and pictures of random bands and people.

"Absynthe, I live in a safe house. I live with other teenagers who got kicked out of their own homes and had no where else to go".

     "What happened to your family"?

"They didn't want me..." His eyes grew distant and he looked at the wall for a minute or two. I reached out and put my arms around him. He just stood without moving. I let go and sat down on a bed and patted the spot next to me. He sat down then leaned back and layed down and stared at the ceiling. I layed back next to him and interlaced his fingers with mine. I turned on my side and hugged his body with my legs. He turned and looked me in the eyes. I looked deeply into his eyes. His hands reached over and cupped my face in his hands. He began to get close to my face without breaking our eye contact. My heart raced and I closed my eyes. I felt his lips softly make contact with mine. I opened my mouth slightly and I pressed harder onto his lips. I let my eyes finally flutter open after a long pause.

"Wow..." I breathed. I layed back and rested my head against his chest I heard his heart beating fast and strong just like before. I leaned up to look at him, " I can feel your heartbeat". He began slowly rubbing my back.

"You should, you stole it", he smiled down at me. I lay my head on his chest and gazed deeply in his eyes
