Another week was almost over and Reid was reading over his favourite quote of Lolita at his desk in peace. It was the entering few sentences of the book and it really stood out to him. He found it beautifully written and it certainly takes away the rape, murder and incest story line ahead of the book. The first few sentences of the book could trick anyone in thinking that it was just any regular love story.
"Lolita, light of my life, fire of my lions. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta. She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was Dolores on the dotted line. But in my arms she was always Lolita."
He loved those nine sentences and thought that they stood out the most throughout the book because even though what Humbert did was completely wrong, at the end of the day Lolita was still Lolita in his arms. Also reading the quote he thought of Carmen's song which quoted the first sentence of Lolita; he could tell why she used it.
"Reid!" He heard a female voice calling out to him.
He quickly tucked the book away into his satchel and looked up to see Garcia rushing up to him with a joyful smile on. As always.
"You're coming over to my place tonight at 7 p.m sharp," she announced.
"That wasn't an invitation and I feel really nervous with your offer."
"I didn't ask you because you are going to come over to my place tonight at 7 p.m sharp."
Reid felt really scared about Garcia's remark, so he decided to just nod in agreement and smile. Garcia smiled back.
"Can't wait to see you tonight, my lovely bud." She soon scurried away and left Reid in peace again.
He looked at his watch and saw that it was almost time to leave. He started to gather his things until he heard Morgan's voice behind him.
"This whole wedding is stressing me out," he confessed to Reid.
Reid turned around to face Morgan. "It could always be worse; you could have your friends trying to hook you up with a complete stranger. At least you found the right woman for you."
Morgan smiled. "I guess your right, but that's not the point. I do not have a live singer which was a must on Aleesha's wedding list. I told her that I had found a singer, but somethings happened and now we don't have a singer and she got really upset when I suggested that my cousin Ricky could sing for us and that's when she got really upset."
"Is that the same cousin that spilled red wine on her designer white dress?"
"It was an accident," Morgan shrugged.
Reid chuckled. He remembered that day too well. Morgan and Aleesha had a big dinner party with close friends and family and Morgan had invited his cousin Ricky that he hadn't seen in forever. Ricky was a singer and was working on an album at the time; he wasn't sure if he ever finished. Ricky had a bit too much to drink that night and got overly tipsy and tipped his wine glass towards Aleesha; a waterfall of deep, red wine fell onto her white dress. Reid couldn't help but remember Aleesha's enraged looked; it looked as if she would have strangled him if no one else was their to witness her. Reid couldn't help but smile a bit bigger at the thought.
"I'm starting to wish that your girlfriend was here now. Not just for my purposes, but yours," Morgan said.
Reid sighed. "I wish she was here too. To be honest, she's usually the only person on my mind for the past two weeks now."
"I understand. God, I never thought that Doctor Spencer Reid would feel the emotion of love in this century."
Reid rolled his eyes. Why did the whole team feel as if he was some kind of emotionless, nerdy little kid? He was a grown man with emotions and needs himself.
