I stare at that burnt spot, all black and brown, before running back to the three children. "Are you all alright?"
The boy, the one I rescued last, crawled over and took my hands in his own. "Thank---you." He murmured, his deep brown eyes locking on mine. "Thank you." He said again, then collapsed.
"No! Wake up!" I shout. I gather him up in my arms. His heart beats faintly, like a fluttering bird. So he's still alive. I breath out in relief, and relax, until someone takes the boy from me.
I glance up, and find myself looking into the mismatched eyes of Toki. "Huh? Toki?" I ask.
"Go, Inazuma. There's still one more left. Ban. Go get him. Ogami and I will take it from here. 'Kay?"
I blink, then smile. "Okay." I wave at Ogami before dashing out the door after Tomi Ban.
It didn't take long to find Tomi. He was running towards a sleek black car.
"So. You've got a getaway, huh?" I mutter. I'm four stories above the ground, where Tomi and the car is. He almost reached the car, his hand outstretched for the door handle.
"Oh, no you don't." I blast at Tomi, but I miss, and he leaps into the car. The car screeches away.
I scowl. How could I have missed? Oh well, no time to worry about that right now. I leap for the car, and land on the hood. I peer through the glass. The driver is screaming, and Tomi has a pistol aimed right at me.
Bingo. No way I can miss right now. I aim a finger gun straight down at the car's hood. Arcs of electricity bury themselves within the car engine, and pressure begins building. Giving Tomi one last smirk, I jump off just in time as the car explodes into a million pieces in a glowing fireball. It hadn't even gotten out of the parking lot yet.
My feet touch the ground, and I crouch down, prepared for anything. There was a chance more explosions were on the way.
Suddenly, I feel a hand on my shoulder. I spin around, and see Toki grinning down at me. "Nice work, Inazuma."
I smile. "Thanks." The smile disappears. "Where's Rei?"
"He's wrapping things up back in the lab." Toki jabs a thumb back behind him. I look, and see a briliant blue flame flare in one of the windows. Yes, my brother was wrapping things up.
"And what about the children?" I demand.
"They're all fine. Every last one. Though many are still traumatized. They'll probably need a little jolt, if you know what I mean."
I knew. For some strange reason, my electricty could also take over a human body. Not entirely, though, at least not yet. But a little spark was enough to calm someone down from a state of panic. "Alright. Race you back."
Toki chuckles, and we dash back as fast as we can.
I give a little boy a tiny spark of electricity. Almost immediately, his body relaxes, and he sleeps peacefully, his chest rising and falling slightly.
"There. All done." The boy had been the last one. I dust off my hands, and notice Ogami staring at me. "What's wrong?"
His blue eyes are piercing. "Nothing. I was just thinking about how you remind me of someone Fujiwara and I used to know." He replied, referring to Toki by his last name.
"Who?" I ask.
Toki looks at Ogami. "Can we tell her?"
"She deserves to know. After all, she is one of us now."
"Would you guys just spill it already?"
"Fine." Toki sighed. "You tell her, Ogami."
"Very well." His blue eyes were cold. "A few years ago, when we hadn't met you or Sakura yet, there had been a young man named Hitomi. He was Code: 01, the strongest of all of us. He could manipulate electricity, and could use it to control human bodies, dead or alive."
