Self
/self/
Noun
1. A person's essential being that distinguishes them from others, especially considered as the object of introspection or reflexive action.
"our alienation from our true selves"I guess that was kinda pointless. Why did you need an English lesson from a 15 year old sassy teen? Well I don't know much. So you could just close this book and continue on with what you have going on, or you could stay and hear me out. If you stayed bravo if not bravo as well. Self is something you don't hear much. Even though you should probably hear it more often. Why? You can't live your entire life happy not knowing your self. Sure you may think you know your self now but do you really? Just because you know your favorite color doesn't mean you really know yourself. I mean the deeper questions that well, "distinguish you from others". How do you start to understand yourself? Where do you begin? What's the point?
What's your favorite movie? Easy question? If so you may be further ahead of knowing yourself then others. If not, don't stress, not even I know the answer to this simple question. You see everyday people go about their business listening to lectures in school, listening to the boss yell at you for another mess up, or just hearing a dog bark from the backyard. These lectures are said at you but are they said to help you. I hear this everyday, "I wish the school would teach me stuff for my future. Like taxes or car work and all that junk." Sure I agree. Is life important if you don't know the one living it? See there's those harder questions.
The question is directed to you, not at you, but to you. I am not telling you to tell me the meaning of life, I'm just asking you to try to understand yourself better. It's a lot easier said then done I guess. I don't know about most of you, me personally I learn things better if its hands on, or if I am being guided through it. Not through dumb lectures or pictures but being shown, or getting someone else's personal stories. I want to feel the emotion or the effort to figure things out, I want to see the pain behind every fail. I just want to find me. Which isn't as easy as an equation you get out of as book, or a chapter in a romance novel. It's a journey that you have to, no not do alone, but work towards.
Back to my question, "Is life important if you don't know the one living it?" To figure this question out we are going to work through it together. Using my life. Maybe it will help you figure out yours. Or maybe you will help me figure out mine. Sorry to say this isn't going to be some action packed adventure, but I can tell you it will be an adventure. How boring could a teenagers life be? Lets see.
