You never comprehend something completely until you see it first hand. That was the plague for me. I went to the market district as Rose and I had made plans to see each other again. I decided to take a street that I knew would be a shorter route, yet I had never taken it. As I walked through I saw why we had never gone that way. The street was paved with zombies. Plague victims like I had never seen. When I stepped down from the walk way they all turned towards me. As I walked they watched me, such as a large cat would watch its prey. I walked through holding the hilt of a pocketknife in my hand tightly in my pocket.
They charged but were struck down by people who looked to have the plague also, but much less progressed. I ran as they gave me time. I made it to the shopping district the screams and growls of the plague victims still echoing in my mind. It was just the peck of sunrise as I walked through the outer walk of the shopping district looking for Rose. In the blink of an eye I hear gentle running and then the skid of a stop behind me. I turn but get stopped by hands covering my eyes.
