"Lum, we have to flee tonight" Tessa said, shoving clothes into her sack.
"Yeah," Ivory chimed in. "There's no way those boys are touching me."
"I'm sorry, but I'm not leaving" I grunted. Ivory and Tessa paused and looked up at me. Tessa's glowing-green eyes seemed to be looking into my soul.
"Do you... want to be caught?" Ivory choked out. I laughed and shook my head 'no' my deep red hair flopping around my face in its ponytail.
"Hell no. I'm just tired of sitting up at that dumb she-wolf retreat. We're not animals" I argued.
"Lumerpa, we're wolves. Packless wolves, for that matter. We're prime meat. You know what happened to Rita when she didn't go. They used her for a year and she was found dead at the cabin on the next Dawning" Ivory explained, setting herself into a state of panic. The clan-less she-wolves were always so overdramatic. I used to be a part of a clan, the Summit Clan, but the Omega, Quentin, claimed that I made sexual advances on him, and the Alpha, Issa, kicked me out. I can't join another pack, but Ivory and Tessa just haven't joined one yet.
"You guys can join a pack. I heard that the Thetas were accepting" I mumbled. Tessa snickered.
"The Thetas? You mean the rape pack? So not joining them!" she cried out, and Ivory nodded, as if agreeing with her.
"Well then, what about the Betas? Simple pack, probably accepting" I argued.
Tessa grunted. "We don't want a pack! We want to keep our she-wolf bodies out of the hands of that nasty clan. Do you know what they did to Rita that year? They forced her to have sex."
"You don't know that, it's a rumor" I sighed. They both continued to pack, while my bag sat empty on the floor.
"Yeah, but it's a rumor I'm not sticking around to find out about" Tessa said. I nodded, finally giving up on forcing them to stay. I'd be locked in the Koro House, no one could get in.
In about five minutes, the girls were done packing.
"Lumerpa, I swear to God. If you don't get your bag packed right now, you will never see the light of day again" Ivory threatened, her voice shaking.
"Ivory, there's over two billion people in our village. There's no way they're going to find me out of all the desperate and lonely she-wolves" I argued. Tessa shook her head.
"Look, Lum. Heather and Nectar will be here in less that five minutes, along with Terrance and Even. They will, if it comes down to it, pack your bags and escort you to the cabin" Tess yelled.
"They know about the cabin, Tess. It's not a secret! What if they decide to infiltrate that? Then it could be one of you that gets caught!" I said with determination. They both laughed.
"That safety house has been untouched for over seventy years. There's no way that clan will break tradition just for a fun little time in this sick game" Ivory growled. I could tell they were getting upset about me not agreeing to go with them. A voice came from the door.
"They're right, little Lumerpa." It was Evan. My secret boyfriend.
"I don't want your input on this. I'm staying here" I whined as Evan kissed my forehead, then my cheek, then my neck. I put my hands on his shoulders.
"No, you aren't. You have that she-wolf thingie for a reason" Evan mumbled into my ear.
"Can't you just protect me for tonight?" I asked in my best baby voice. Evan shook his head 'no'. I pouted, and he chuckled.
"I said no, little Lumerpa" he said, staying consistent.
"Come with me" I instructed, and he stood up and followed me. I turned back to the people in the room.
