I ran. I took turn after turn but they just kept getting closer. I never thought that they would risk everything to get to the one little thing in my hand.
I ducked around a corner and they must not have seen me, for they just kept running. Finally I am safe, for now, well not really.
When you are a spirit hunter you are never safe for long. You always have to be on the run.
But at least I am done being chased, I bet that you're wondering what a spirit hunter is and why the little thing in my hand is so important, I would risk so much as my life for it.
Well then here is my story. It all started on a gloomy night. I have never been afraid of the dark or walking home alone at night or anything for that matter. Even if the street lights cast an eerie glow on the side walk, or I hear faint footsteps behind me. I know that it is all in my head. Just my mind playing tricks on me.
But tonight the faint footsteps seemed to be getting closer and closer this time it didn't seem like it was in my head at all.
"Amber."
Said a man behind me, who's foot steps where getting closer.
Wait, How did he know my name?
I thought, than realized that probably wasn't my biggest problem at the moment.
I started walking quickly , but his footsteps just kept getting closer. I was getting panicked I had know idea who was chasing me. I started running. He yelled, again. I didn't stop.
I saw a dark ally, and realized it might be a good choice if I wanted to escape.
I dashed down the deserted ally way to find that it was a just a dead end. I was stuck. There was no way I was getting out of this.
The man rounded the corner. Thougts of unspeakable things screamed in my head. I told my self over and over again, nothing was going to happen, things like this only happens in movies. My mind flashed to a news report from a few weeks ago, talking about a girl who had been kidnapped in a alley just, like this.
I ducked down behind some garbage cans thinking that maybe he wouldn't see me. He walked a little closer.
At this point I was overwhelmed with panic and fear. He looked at me with gleam in his something I just couldn't put my finger on, humour, maybe even madness.
"Amber."
He said so quietly it was practically a whisper.
"Yes."
I replied in a frightened tone, bearly able to get any words out of my mouth.
"I have something for you."
He held out a letter with my name on it. I sat there for a second, unable to prosses what had just happened. Had he really just chassed me down a street to give me a letter?
Couldn't he have just sent it to me?
I thought.
If not, couldn't he of just delivered it to my house?
He stood there for a few more secounds, then dropped the letter. I waited until he rounded the coner, then got up from where I was hiding. Grabbing the letter, I looked around the corner, not seeing anyone I continued on my way.
