Kyle was the first to erupt. "WHAT???!!!!!!" his voice echoed like a thunder blast. "All this time I thought I had gotten my black hair from dad, and my blue eyes from you, and now you tell me i'm ADOPTED????"

This explains everything! Of course I would want to avenge my parents, they're dead! A sobering thought came to me. Dead. My parents are Dead. That means I'm alone. All alone...

"The only real siblings here are Citrine and Topaz," She continued.

Not even my supposed twin is my sister! Rin and I exchanged glances. No wonder we always got along the best. Then other, more troublesome thoughts occurred to me. I bathed a little boy who wasn't even my brother! And, I grew up with impostors! Which was tempered down by, So did they, and at least I have Rin, they don't. So overall, I was lucky.

"But that still doesn't answer my question. What is happening to me?" Felix broke into my thoughts.

"You are the result of an experiment in trying to convert matter into a more eco friendly form of energy. This happened back in 1681. Every single person in the lab was effected, some more than others. Some, like you, got enhanced by the elements. Others, like myself, have been blessed with special abilities because of our exposure to them. All I can tell you regarding your parents is that IT destroyed them, and all children bearing some resemblance to those alive were taken on as foster children."

"So you knew this would happen,"his voice was cold.

"I knew, but I didn't anticipate it happening so soon." She replied sheepishly.

"What can you do?" I broke into the conversation.

"I can manipulate matter. Watch." She said wearily. She extended her hand to an empty notebook. It wriggled and writhed, and then became a tiny tree in a cardboard box.

"So the paper became the tree, and the covers became the box. I understand." Ivy said, leaning closer. Her ice blue eyes studied the tree with interest. Cautiously and self consciously, she began to sing.

Oh life of the forest

Bloom and grow

So gentle and honest

Bloom and grow

Be bigger and stronger

Bloom and grow

Long last and live longer

Bloom and grow

At her words, the tree began to stretch it's small limbs and grow. The branches sprouted small green buds, and the trunk got thicker. Luke watched, entranced by the spectacle. The longer the limbs got, and the thicker the trunk got, the wider his eyes became. When it was finished, he turned his awe-filled eyes on Ivy.

"You're so wonderful!" He exclaimed, hugging her. Her eyes softened to the color of raindrops. She hugged him back.

"I want to know how many of us there are, how old they are, and their talents." Rin said, ever the practical one.

"I want to know who our parents are." I added, speaking for Rin... and probably all of us.

"There are few enough. I don't know the exact number, but around a dozen." Somehow the small number comforted me. It would have been too much if there was a whole society. But does that mean more people died, or less people were effected? "As for the powers, I know we have Wind, water, air, fire, earth, plants, manipulation and a few others. Your parents..." She seemed to be thinking.
