Slamming her locker, Violet turned to face him. Just looking into his deep blue eyes made her angry. He had hurt her, in ways he couldn't even begin to imagine. "So you're saying," she began, her voice dripping with fake politeness, "that you think it's absolutely fine for you to come waltzing back into my life after what you did to me?" She looked at the boy that had once meant everything to her. His eyes were full of sadness and fear. She knew how that felt. She watched him gulp as he fidgeted unnervingly with his hands. "You hurt me Nate. You broke me and now you think it's fine to just come back here and try to mess my life up some more? No thank you, not today."
She tore her eyes away from him, turning her back and walking down the corridor away from him with as much strength as she could muster. The truth was, she was still broken. She had never really recovered from last summer. Never really got over how their friendship had ended so swiftly. One minute, it seemed they had been closer than ever and the next it was as if they were on parallel universes.
