Killian's fascination with the marine life brings a smile to my face as I watch him flit from window to window. Every time a school of fish swims past the large glass panels, his eyes light up like a child on Christmas. From the bench I'm sitting on, I can see all of the deserted observation deck. It was just the two of us.

We've been "dating" for over four months now, coming up on five. I thought it might be a fun to pay a visit to the local aquarium since he's always going on about the dolphins. He says they remind him of me. A cute gesture, but I've never been able to see the connection, and he's never told me what the similarity is.

I stand and walk over to where he is captivated by a massive sea turtle nestling in a coral reef.

"Is he stuck?" I ask, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"No," Killian replies, "sea turtles love wiggling into tiny spaces. He's just preparing to take a nap."

"Thanks Mr. Turtle-Expert." I joke, expecting him to crack a smile. All I see is the reflection of the blue water dancing across his face in the dim light.

"Killian," I begin, dropping my hand to my hip, "are you alright?"

"I-"

Attention guests, the aquarium will be closing in five minutes.

The announcement interrupts his response.

"Come on," I murmur, grabbing is hand, "we should get going." Reluctantly, he allows me to pull him away from the window and in the direction of the exit. He pauses when we walk  past the tank where two graceful gray dolphins are playing with each other. One exhales a ring of water and the second swims through it. The large sea creatures splash and poke at the other with their long needle-like snouts.
"Why do you say dolphins remind you of me?" I blurt.

Killian turns and looks at me fondly. "Because once you take the time to earn their trust, they'll be protective, loyal companions."

My eyes well with tears. "Is that all?" I ask with a small laugh.

"Well, they can be very playful when they want to be." he concedes, grinning broadly. Wrapping an arm around my shoulders he pulls me close. I lean into his neck and we continue walking to the doors.

"I love you." I breathe.

"I love you more." he whispers, lightly kissing the top of my head. And with that, we left the aquarium, both of us wishing this moment never had to end.
