Vanilla and Chocolate
Hair tumbles down my back.
Blonde on top, brown underneath,
Onto a slim canvas painted black.
Vanilla or Chocolate.
Two options to choose between.
One sweeter, one stimulating,
Which flavor of ice cream?
Vanilla and Chocolate
Present themselves before me.
On cones they sit, sprinkled
And paid for already.
Vanilla and Chocolate
Held out with strong hands.
Looking up I discover
Behind the treats is a man.
Vanilla on top.
A mop of golden blonde hair.
Chocolate gazes back
And holds my sight line there.
"Vanilla or Chocolate?"
Offered up to me,
The Vanilla topped man's
Chocolate eyes are all I see.
"Chocolate" I say,
Taking the sweet treat.
Hands run through the Vanilla.
The mop no longer neat.
"Normally I don't do this,"
He said, licking his cone.
"But I saw Vanilla and Chocolate
And decided to condone."
"Vanilla and Chocolate
Tumbles down your back.
I was captivated when I came in.
It sits on a canvas of black."
Vanilla and Chocolate.
Always a perfect pair.
If it were doubled,
It just wouldn't be fair.
"Thanks." I say for the
Chocolate ice cream
As I finish the last bite,
It fades into a dream.
Waking up I run my hand through
My Vanilla and Chocolate mane.
"I wish it were real," I thought
"I wish he had a name."
Off to school,
First period science class.
Looking forward to my
Free period that's last.
"Lab assignment today,"
Professor announces aloud.
"Find a partner,
Quickly now."
"Miss," pointing to me
he says, "Would you help
The new kid? He knows no one."
I nod and turn about.
Vanilla on top.
A mop of golden blonde hair.
Chocolate gazes back
And holds my sight line there.
Dark Chocolate eyes
Connect with mine.
I look for words but he speaks
First and says, "Hi."
"Hello." I say back,
Smiling meekly at him.
Vanilla and Chocolate
Is real, and is my world within.
"What's your name?"
I inquire at last.
Chocolate stares intensely
And says, "My name's-".
