The broken city

I pulled myself up off the floor as I woke up rubbing my eyes and stretched I was wondering why I had woken up on the floor in the first place was i sitting there on my phone and happened to doze off or did I just lay down and fall asleep, well i don't know but I had a nice nap so I won't complain, my eyes were still a little blurry from waking up and rubbing my eyes. I smelt burning and wasn't sure what it was, but as I flipped around to get comfy again I sat up straight in utter shock, I seen the whole city was destroyed only parts of buildings were still standing but all the building bricks and ground were black with whatever had happened here, some sort of huge explosion I should imagine but if that was the case why was I still here, I seen there was liquid stuff here and there just bubbling, was this acid? What happened here, better of a question was I the only survivor, and why was this done

"Leah" a voice came from behind me, i looked over my shoulder and it was my 2 best friends they had survived, I just turned around with a sigh of relief and went in to give them a hug. wait they are burnt really bad what's happened to them a shocked look came across my face and I backed away as I could feel fear building up inside of me.

"Guys what's happened to you's" I had to question them but suddenly a huge gust of wind came and in less then a second they had turned into dust, I just let out a faint scream, what the heck was going on here I was more then scared I looked down at my hand which got caught in the gust i couldn't feel my hand and I cried out help in panick, suddenly it was dust too. I freaked out and ended up collapsing on the spot, a few minuets passed and I woke up, checking my body again, it was back to normal I had my hand back in one piece, wait was this a second chance, I seen a guy in the corner of my eye a tall figure with bushy black hair and green mixed with slight blueness in his eyes before I could say anything he gave me an evil smirk I felt as thou he was going to bring harm the smile just says it all if I'm truthful, I picked myself up and just ran I don't know where I was going to go but I can't be the only survivor here, there had to be more hiding, I looked behind me and the guy was gone, who he was I didn't know, but I got away from him, I just felt as thou he was trouble. He might not be, but the smirk was evil, I set off on my journey searching for people I knew, stepping over all the rubble from the buildings and tripping a few times as I was rushing to get as far away from that guy as I could,  I wasn't going to give up on the search for people until I found someone, I kicked at all the broken bricks just in deep thought of what has happened has it been done to the whole world or just here, and if so why , I got distracted from my thoughts by the sound of my phone ringing without thinking I just picked it up no question about it.

"hello?" I asked sort of questioning who it was.

"Hey bestie" the voice answered from the other end, my eyes widened.

"Wait oh my god are you okay where the heck are you Maddie" I panicked shouting down the phone.

"Hey wow I'm calm I'm on holiday with my family in Hawaii what's got into you" she questioned concerned but I heard a faint giggle from her.

"Our homes have been destroyed, everywhere I look nothing but." as she paused, thinking she might not know, but carry's on but now crying "blackness and dullness, everything gone, I don't know what to do, I can't find anyone" I began to explain, now thinking I might never see her again, I begin to tremble with fear as the thought of she could be next travelled across my mind, but then again, she's okay as relief filed my mind, she's in Hawaii, does that mean every were else is fine.

"What you on about what happ......" The phone connection had gone I was alone again, what was happening, I fell to the floor in tears, confused and lost.
