-Olivia's POV-
I was currently packing my last bag when my mom bursts through the door.
"Do you have everything packed?" She asked looking around the room.
"Yeah im just packing my last suitcase." I said lifting the bag and putting it on my bed.
"Well anna is downstairs she just got here a couple of minutes ago."
"Okay be there in a second." With that she leaves me in my room to finish.
Today is the day me and Anna leave for California. We both decided we should take off a year before we start college, and in that year we will be living in Cali. At first we were gonna go out of the country but we thought about it and we would need alot more money then we had and it was to far away from our families. So California was the next best location for us.
I finish packing my last bag and carry everything downstairs.
"Finally, I thought I was gonna have to leave you here. Why did you take so long?" Anna asked.
Me and Anna have been friends for a couple years now. When we first met a couple years ago,we weren't very fond of eachother, but we started to tolerate one another and became friends. We practically live in two houses since we spend equal amount of time at eachother houses.
"I was just making sure I had everything I need. Didn't want to leave anything behind."
"You guys can head out to the car I'm gonna go get my purse." My mom says to us.
We head out to the car and something catches my eye from across the street. Moving vans. It couldn't be. I run across the street ignoring Anna calling my name multiple times.
I get up to the house and see Uhaul workers moving furniture into the house and stacking up boxes.
"Luke? Hello?!" I was running up their driveway looking around the garage and around the house.
A lady in her thirties or fourties comes out looking confused.
"Can I help you?" She asks me with a concerned look on her face.
"Are you moving in here?" I asked her.
"Yes I am. Why?"
"Im sorry I just thought someone that previously lived here was moving back." I said trying to hold back my tears.
"No I'm sorry. Do you live in the neighborhood?"
"Yeah right across the street. I better be going. Welcome to the neighborhood, nice meeting you." I ran off back to the car not holding back my tears anymore. I shouldn't have got my hopes up. I shouldn't even be crying, i should've asumed they weren't moving back.
I get back to the car and Anna comes over to me engulfing me in a hug.
"It's okay Liv." Anna was never really good with words when comforting someone but her hugs made up for it.
We get into the car, and a couple tears are still ecaping my eyes.
My mom comes in the car with a huge smile on her and is all perky, as usual.
"Aren't you guys excited to go to California?! I mean I'm gonna miss you guys and all but its gonna so great for both of you."
She turns around and sees I've been crying, her smile falters.
"Have you been crying? Honey it's only for a year I'll skype you and maybe we could even visit eachother over-
She stops rambling when Anna clears her throat and motions out the window. She looks out the window and makes and "o" with her mouth.
"Honey I know I've said it a million times, but you need to forget about them. They apparently didn't care enough to tell us they were leaving so why should you care. It's been a couple years now I think it's time to move on from it."
"I know. But I just thought maybe they moved back."
Once we took off it was a silent car ride to the airport. Anna already said goodbye to her parents and her siblings before she came to my house. We said goodbye to my mom and we headed to our flight.
"Im so excited!" Anna says in a high pitched wisper as we sit down in our seats.
"Yeah. Me too."
When we landed it was already dark outside so we decided to crash at a motel so we didn't have to drive to the house at such a late hour.
We head into the room and get into the beds still in our clothes. A couple minutes later we both drift into sleep.
