Chapter 1:

Arabella's POV

I remember walking towards the door, ready to leave when I heard a loud crash coming from the upstairs guest room. I run up there, praying my father didn't injure himself again.

Hi, I'm Arabella Smith and I'm a 15 year old Freshman at Everdeen High. Many people would say that I'm pretty with my light blue eyes that look as blue as the sky, but they're wrong. I'm 5'3, short with ugly brown/blond hair and with my dorky glasses that take away the attraction of my eyes. I wouldn't exactly call myself attractive either seeing that my body is built like a 10 year old boy. I don't have many friends, seeing how my over protective father manages to scare them away with his deathly glares and rude comments. My father is Richard Smith, but I call him Richy because he owns a big company that turned us into billionaires. My mom died when I was 8 and ever since then my dad was never the same. I tried to get him to go out with a few people but he always disagreed. He always hated the idea of blind dates considering all those gold - diggers out there who would say and do anything to get their hands on our money.

But that changed when i secretly set him up on a date with a women who i knew would be perfect for him, Melissa Jones. She is a former super model who now owns the biggest modeling agency in Los Angeles. She is sweet and honest, but sometimes a little over the top with some questions that seem to be too inappropriate for some people. My dad and Melissa really hit it off and have been dating for over 8 months now.

As I walk into the room, I am lifted by these huge muscled arms that squeeze the air out of my lungs.

"DAD..... CAN'T.....BREATHE!" I manage to say, even though it gives me a huge pain in my chest.

My father chuckles and gently puts me down to the ground. "Sorry dear, I just couldn't wait for you to come home so I could tell you my great news."

I sit down on the soft bed as my father thinks of how he was going to tell me his news. His eyes showed happiness, excitement, and also fear. Before I had the chance to ask him what was wrong he blurted out, "I'm going to marry Melissa Jones!" I stare at him in shock, sinking the idea of him re-marrying a women he has only dated for 8 months. My father looks at my face trying to get out an expression from my wide eyes. Finally, I gathered enough courage to speak.

"You're getting remarried? Why? Since when have you to been that close, I mean come on dad, 8 months is not a long time!" I catch my breath, looking at my father who stares at me in astonishment.

"Look sweetie, I know it is a bit sudden, but I really do love her... Could you please be happy for me?"

I look at my dad's face, seeing the hope and love that radiates from his eyes. He really does love her, so why do I have a problem with it. I should be happy, I mean I'm gonna have a new kind step-mom. After reprocessing everything that has happened, I let out a deep sigh. I slowly stand up, walk to my father who is looking down at his feet. "Okay," I mumble, just barely over my breath. My dad looks up at me and a big smile comes to his face.

"Thank you sweetie! I love you, you'll always be my number one girl!" I smirk at what he's saying, thinking the big idiot has never been this happy. As I walk upstairs towards my room, my father says something that stops me in my tracks.

"Sweetie, another thing... We are going to move into their mansion.." I gasp at the idea of leaving my home, the home I have so many memories with. Before I can protest, he raises his hand to my mouth.

"Also, we won't be the only ones living there. Her sons will be living with us too."

My heart drops thinking that i must have heard wrong. "Erm.... Excuse me? I must be deaf because I did not just hear you say that she has sons.. How many? Who are they? Why didn't you tell me" I hear my voice raise and I see my father flinch when I begin to shout. "Why didn't you tell me? I thought we don't hide secrets.." I frown, because it's true. My dad and I have always been close since mom died, even before. We didn't allow secrets between each other. Never.
