. . ♡ Dear readers, the contents of this story are based on a blurry true story. If any of these characters relate to anyone that you know in real life, it's only by coincidence. No names will be given but some fictional parts have been added to make this story worth reading. For example, Michael Stevenson's role play, obviously...

Jordin Serenity Glaze

"Serenity! Get off the dresser now!!"

I looked down at Linda yelling at me.

"No!" I screamed, crying my eyes out.

I was up there for a reason; so she wouldn't hit me again. The last hit I got from her was still sending pain through my face.

"Get down NOW!" She yelled trying to reach for my leg on the top shelf of the dresser.

I screamed and kicked her hand away. I was small for my ten-year-old age, so I was able to fit anywhere.

"Leave me alone!" I yelled through my sobs. "Stop, Linda!"

"Girl, my name ain't Linda to you! It's mom."

I stared at her through my blurry eyes as she stood in my room. She went through my drawers and pulled out something that I couldn't see very well. My vision wasn't as sharp as a normal kid's should be.

My eyes watched her every movement; I didn't want anything unexpected to happen.

She examined the thing in her hand and held it up for me to see.

"Do you want it?" she asked swinging the gold locket from left to right.

I licked my lips tasting the salty tang of the tears I've been shedding for the past hours. They started shedding faster as if they knew the value of that locket. As if they knew who gave it to me.

"Daddy!" I screamed reaching my hand out for the locket.

My "mom" pulled me by the hand and I screamed even louder as my body went soaring to the floor.

I yelped out a cry of pain as my head hit the tile floor. I tried to scramble up to my feet but the pain was too excruciating. I felt a shock run through the side of my head, where I landed, to the back of my neck.

I bawled my eyes out as she hovered over me with a studded belt. Linda raised her hand up and I knew what was coming. Before it even hit me I started screaming.

My body jerked uncontrollably as she stroke the belt down on me...

☓ Once ... For ever giving birth to me.

☓ Twice ... For tolerating my presence.

☓ Three times ... For raising me.

☓ Four times ... For being worthless.

☓ Five times ... For being a spitting image of my father.

She said those words every time I receive the rod. I received it one too many times to not remember her reasons for beating me.

After the fifth strike, she threw the necklace at me and turned off the lights in my bedroom.

The door was slammed shut and I was left by myself in the dark. The only light that emitted into the room was the moon's. But it was barely noticeable through the small tinted mirror.

I clutched my necklace against my heart and stayed on the floor. My body throbbed against the pain.

"Daddy." I whispered as my tears streamed down my face and pain overtook my body.

"When are you coming back home?"

I knew that wherever he was, he heard me. He told me that one day he'll come back for me and I'll be right next to him. .

But he never came back . . .

He lied to me . . .
