It was my fault to think that today was like any other day. People rarely go outside these days, only for the necessary supplies. Of course, I was stupid enough to ignore the P.A. announcement and went out for a skate session.

All the houses I passed had their curtains drawn; some of them even had boarded windows and doors. Rolling down the road on my skateboard, I noticed all the corpses lying around. Whoever they were, they must've been very unfortunate. When I came to a crossroad, a voice called out to me.

"Toki? What are you doing out?" I turned to see my old high school friend, Misawa Yuji. He seemed different, like he was a tired, and it looked like he was hiding something behind his back.

"What do you mean Yuji?" I replied to him.

"Didn't you hear the lockdown announcement?" I looked away, slapped my forehead and sighed before I turned back. The lockdown announcements were only for those very few who couldn't evacuate or didn't want to. I was one of those who didn't want to leave.

"Uh, I must have left my volume on mute," I told him, which made Yuji laugh a little, and I did the same. Suddenly, he stopped laughing and put a hand to my mouth, stifling my laugh. He pulled me down against the fence, and then I heard it. I heard a low growling noise coming from around a corner.

"Run, now..." he whispered to me, and then yelled, "Go now!" He took his other arm from behind his back and revealed a bright yellow gun, with the word 'FEAR' etched into the side. He removed his hand from my mouth and I began to run as fast as I could, my skateboard in my hand.

I heard shooting, and then a scream and I turned to see Yuji having his right arm bitten into by silhouetted creature, causing him to drop the gun out of pain. I bit my lip, as I knew I couldn't stay, but I couldn't leave Yuji on his own either. Doing the first thing that came to my head, I ran back to him and kicked the thing in the head, causing it to stagger back slightly. I picked up the gun and images of the gun specs began playing in my head, a male voice accompanying it.

"Welcome to the NITE Pistol tutorial program. This gun is easy to use and regulate. To shoot, simply pull the trigger. No reload required!" I was surprised how easy it was as I did as it said; the shots firing like a natural flow. The gun responded to my every action with a perfect shot landing on the creature each time. I barely missed any shot, but the creature just kept getting agitated. In a desperate struggle, I silently apologized to Yuji before placing down my board and hopping on, beginning to head for the shopping mall that was nearby to get it away from Yuji.

All the way there, I always looked back to shoot at the creature. It followed me very viciously and nearly caught my leg as I neared the mall.

Through the car park I went, and then I heard car alarms. The thing must be jumping of cars to try and get ahead. I was nearly at the entrance when it jumped and blocked it off. I had no other choice, so I jumped off my board, kicked it behind me and began shooting at it again, which made it stagger every time I shot it.

An alarm sounded from the gun suddenly and shut off the shooting function, so I looked at the gun and found the source of it. A dial on the side of the gun was blinking like mad, with an arrow indicating to turn it. When I did so, the tutorial quickly shouted, "PULL BACK THE REAR PLUNGER AND SHOOT!" I had no need though because, out of my control, it did it on its own.

'NITE TRIGGER SHOT' announced the female voice of the gun. I aimed at the hideous beast, now charging towards me, and pulled the trigger. A large pulse shot came from the barrel and obliterated the damn thing. It was blown to tiny little bits, no blood or gore, just simply tiny pieces. I fell backwards from the recoil and landed on my board, snapping it in half.
