No Flaws

Phil sat on his bed while his co worker from the lab and dear friend, Dan stood towering over him. Phil had held this off long enough, and he needed to removed the weight he held over his head.

"I know you don't want to hear this.. but it hurts too much." He began.

Dan stared down, puzzled.

"What are you on about?"

"It really is hard to be around you every day as we are. It's even harder knowing that you will never understand that."

"What?"

After staring at his co worker's shoes for the last fifteen minutes Phil finally met Dan's gaze.

"I love you, Dan."

One year later

Philip Lester was a senior working towards his bachelor's in agriculture. He worked alongside Daniel Howell of the same year, who he happily helped out in the lab.

There were other students who popped into the lab every once in a while to casually study agriculture and work their way up to the level that Dan was at. Phil had come to be good friends with some of these "poppers" as he called them.

Phil looked up to Dan in more ways than one.

He'd first seen him after first arriving at the University. Phil wasn't sure what had attracted him first. Was it the collected and scholarly attitude? His slim body and beautiful face? Or maybe his waist? Probably the waist.

The only problem was, Dan wasn't as collected as originally thought to be. For that matter, Dan was just a prick.

It wasn't long before Phil had discovered this fatal flaw.

Dan was insensitive and incredibly selfish. On top of all that, the man that Phil idoled was annoyingly obsessed with his little brother, Tyler.

Despite all these seemingly 'in-your-face' problems, Phil fell in love with all of it.

Phil held a test tube in front of him, looking through the clean glass at the trapped liquid, when suddenly the door busted open.

He couldn't help but smile at the disrupting noise, after all, it was only Dan.

"Phil!" He shouted.

An expression of fear and despair was plastered on the high level student's face.

"Dan?" Phil replied happily, putting down the test tube. "What's wrong?"

"Is it true? You of all people would know, am I correct? Please tell me it isn't!"

"News?"

Dan shook his fist angrily.

"The news about America!"

"Oh!" Phil blushed lightly. "You mean the same-sex marriage-"

Dan's eyes widened, closely followed by him grabbing the collar of Phil's shirt.

"Yes, that! So it is true, God save us all! Recognizing gay marriage, are they insane!?"

Phil pried Dan's fingers off of his shirt, brushing off himself.
