Roof terraces and ducks.

In a small roof terrace of one of the many building in Barcelona, you can see a girl. She's sitting next to a metal door, sketchbook in hand, and next her knee there's a watercolors' box, which we could say have almost no life left. Every few seconds she looks up to admire the beauty of the city, trying to capture the image on paper, while the sun begins to set and give wat to the night.

Since she moved to Barcelona when she was twenty, she liked to get on the building's roof terrace. It helped her to relax and think. She liked feeling the breeze moving her hair without messing it up. She loved to see how, during the evening twilight, the city was full of shadows and of an orange tone.

She smiles unconsciously considering her drawing finished and signing it on one of its lower corners. She's admiring the views under the last sun rays for some minutes when a flock of birds in vee formation, which are surely flying towards Africa, reminds her of something or rather someone.

She collects all her thing and, as fast as she's able to, she goes down the stairs until she gets to her apartment. When she opens the door a little duck, which she had decided to call Sid, welcomes her with a loud 'Quak'. She smiles picking the duck in her arms and gently strokes its head. A couple of months ago she had found the duck wounded on the roof terrace and, after taking him to the vet, she had decided to keep it.

After a quick shower, she puts on her favourite pajamas. She fills a try with seeds for Sid and makes herself a cup of hot chocolate. When both are finished, she picks up the duck in her arms again and carries it to the sofa. She covers herself with a blanket, and Sid sits on her lap, she turns on the TV and smiles when she notices 'Attack of the Clones' is on.

Maybe for other people to spend a Friday night watching Star Wars with a duck isn't the best plan, but she couldn't care less about what others think. It could be the end of the world outside there and she still wouldn't move from her couch and much less disturb little Sid, who was now asleep.

Don't judge me, one of my friends asked me to write her some shor story about her, a duck and her painting and this is what I came up with so yeah... Hope you liked anyway.
