Past and Present

I was four when my mother took her own life. She did it because my father got a divorce from her. It happened four months after my father, Masen Anderson, got remarried. To a man named Anthony. Ever since then, I've been considered a freak.

It's been twelve years since my mom passed, and I'm still considered a freak. I am a social outcast, I  have literally one friend. His name is Ezra Reid Ashford. He has been my best friend, my only friend, since first grade. He was the one who helped me through everything in life. He was the one I turned to when I needed help. He is my true love, the only one I could ever love. It was a fairly nice day in March of 2013 when I realized this, we were fourteen years old and walking around the park. I looked into his eyes and he looked into mine and it just clicked. How had we not noticed before, I don't know. Anyways, Ezra was also considered a reject, so we found comfort in each other, we know each others pain.

We were walking hand in hand down the school hallway one day as a Junior named Seth came by and knocked my books out of my other hand. He and his friends began to laugh as I sighed and bent down to grab my books, this was a normal thing, I was used to it. I guess it just didn't get old to them.

"Too bad your mommy isn't here anymore so you can run to her." Seth said, and Ezra just lost it.

"Why do you have to bring her mother into this?!" He nearly screamed. The two things happened simultaneously... I screamed for Ezra's well-being, and Seth punched him in the jaw. There was a sickening crunch as he made contact, and Ezra was on the floor writhing and screaming in pain. I was bent over him when Seth then grabbed me and slammed me against the nearest locker.

"This is just a warning, if you and your little boyfriend EVER try to show me up again, much worse things will happen!" He sneered before he noticed the scars on my wrist, as I was wearing a t-shirt and he held my wrists above my head, and he burst out into a roaring laughter. "Wow. Looks like the abomination cuts herself too, this just keeps getting better and better!" He choked out through the laughter. Then he got serious and put his lips to my ear. "Looks like we affect you more than you let on. You are so weak." He annunciated the last words very carefully, one by one. And then he dropped me and walked away. I crawled over to Ezra crying. Though hundreds of people were passing us on their way to classes, nobody stopped to see if either of us were okay.
