It was Nico's first day at Hogwarts.

He had just turned 10 and his letter FINALLY came in. It was the first time he had smiled in a whole year.

It was also his step-sister's, Hazel's first day too ((I'm making then the same age)).

"Gee, I wonder what house I'll be in! Maybe Ravenclaw! Naw, I'm not smart enough... Maybe Gryffindor! I'm not very brave though. Hufflepuff! But I'm probably not kind enough. I know, I know! Slytherin! Wait... No... What?" Hazel blinked confusedly at Nico. "Wait?!" She suddenly screeched. "What if I don't get sorted?! What if I'm not supposed to be there or I'm just some weird outcast muggle?!"

Nico placed his hands on Hazel's shoulders. "Hazel, it'll be fine, okay? You got your letter to Hogwarts. You'll be sorted and you'll do fine!" He reassured her.

Hazel just nodded meekly, "Thanks Neeks..."

"Don't call me Neeks!" Nico says sternly and Hazel gives a little giggle.

"So, all we need are our books and robes, right?" Nico asks nonchalantly.

Hazel looked down at the list, "Yep and a wand! How could you forget a wand?!" Hazel giggles again and Nico felt a small smile grow on his lips.

"Yeah... Lets get our wands last." Nico started walking away, not knowing if Hazel was following.

"Okay! I hope mine has a unicorn tail thingy in it!" Hazel says, right next to Nico.

"Well, I don't care," Nico says rolling his eyes.

They quickly got fitted for their robes and got their first year books, before heading to the wand shop.

Nico tried out a few wands until he found the one that sparked.

"Ahh good choice. Dragon heart string. That young boy over their has a heart string from the same dragon." The man pointed to a blonde boy playing around with his own wand.

Nico just nodded uninterested but Hazel chimed in. "Nico you should talk to him!" She grinned excitedly.

Nico gave a little grunt as Hazel pushed Nico forward, towards the boy.

"Hello! My brother has a heart string from the same dragon as yours!" Hazel grinned happily. "I've got to get my wand so you two can talk!"

She skipped off and Nico glared at her. "I'm Will!" The blonde boy announced. Nico spun around to face him.

He had kind blue eyes and curly blonde hair that hung in his face. He was a bit taller then Nico but only by a little.

"Nico," Was all Nico replied.

"Well, nice to meet you Nico! Is this your first year? It's mine!"

Nico just nodded.

"You don't talk much do you? I could probably change that because we'll be friends right? I think we'll be really good friends! Do you have any friends besides me? What house do you want to be in? Are you scared?!" The questions flew out of Will's mouth rapidly.

Nico just glared at him. "We aren't friends and we never will be," He said firmly before walking off, grabbing Hazel's arm and dragging her off.

"We need to get on the train," Nico said flatly, ignoring Hazel's protests.

Nico got on the train quickly and was trying to find a place to sit.

There was a raven-haired boy with a blonde girl lecturing him. They looked too busy.

There was a tall blonde boy with glasses and he looked like he was... Dying? There was a girl trying to calm down with choppy brown hair. Nico didn't want to get into whatever happened to the blonde boy.

There was a girl with dark hair who looked like she WASN'T to be messed with, so Nico skipped her.

Hazel was chatting happily with a chubby Asian boy, the one in the wand shop.

Nico sighed when he came to the back of the train and saw one of the only empty seats. It was right by the blonde boy.

"Erm..." Nico started awkwardly. "Can I sit with you?"
