x: dispute
"to be in argument with someone."
[Day 6]
I guess you could say that the confidence I'd gained, oh so quickly, just a couple hours ago has slowly dissipated to nothing. Well, that and every attempt to ease the awkwardness between us involves an all too embarrassing act and me dying of excruciating pain. I didn't dwell much on it, at some point on our visit to the hospital, I knew that i'd probably do something quite embarrassing. And boy was I right.
Mom had told us - er, you - to go ahead and do everything we needed to do in town before picking her up because she was another two to three hours due to the tests and check-ups she had lined up, but we stayed. We sat in that waiting room for an hour before I'd gotten bored.
There were only about three other people in the waiting room. One, a lady dressed in a long sleeved, blue turtle neck and jeans, her eyes were a little red from most probably, crying. And two, a young couple who sat next us, only a chair in between me and the lady. She looked about seventeen, with long brown hair and bright blue eyes. She looked kind of shy and book wormy, maybe I thought that because she was carrying a young-adult book with her. But, anyway, she was pretty but she had a frown on her lips, teary eyes, and a swollen stomach. The guy next to her looked only a year older. He looked really tired, and worn. He looked bored, too, like he didn't want to be here... But he was handsome, and lean too, almost like he had been on the school's football team. It was all too cliche. I didn't want to think about what had happened between them, I couldn't, for the sake of the girl and her baby. I wish she wasn't here to abort.
I couldn't take the eerie silence anymore. I mean, you weren't any help. Beside me, you were just casually glaring at the floor like he punched your sister or something. So I stood up. You had shifted your gaze towards me then, your glare coming with it.
"What are you doing?" You had asked.
"I'm bored." I muttered, rolling my eyes in a 'duh' way.
I felt bad acting so casual while the couple in the room were probably going through a hard time.
You rolled your eyes, too, "I don't care. Sit back down." You told me back.
"I don't want to." I answered.
"Sit. Down." You muttered.
"I'm hungry." I blurted out.
"No, you're not hungry, you're bored." You corrected.
"I was bored, now I'm hungry." I said stressing the 'was' in my sentence.
You groaned, "So, so difficult." You said giving in.
I smiled knowing I'd won, "Come on." I said turning away from you and marching away from the waiting room.
I caught a glimpse of the lady again, she was smiling at us... Like she had wanted her youth back.
You followed me begrudgingly, muttering incoherent complaints and curses as we went down the hall way of the fifth floor. I saw a nurse exit a room, she smiled at me as I stopped to talk to her.
She looked tired too, "Hi..." I said shyly.
"Do you know where the hospital's canteen is?" You said bluntly.
I shoved you a bit, "Please." You added.
She smiled sweetly, "Yes, actually, it's on the second floor, through the hallway and take a left, you'll come to a big open space it's just through there." She said.
I smiled and shoved you again, "Thank you." You muttered, rubbing your side.
The nurse nodded towards us before going straight towards her station.
You glared at me, "Stop shoving me, Julianne." You spat.
I rolled my eyes, "Manners, Michael." I spat back.
I smiled at myself as I walked back down the corridor towards the elevator.
You rolled your eyes and followed me, your arms crossed and a permanent scowl plastered onto your face.
You stepped inside and leaned against the elevator wall, the door dinged.
We stepped outside and headed towards the canteen. I smiled once we got there, my eyes lighting up at the sight of all the food.
"Go." You said coldly shoving me towards the almost desolate canteen.
"Okay!" I chirped, I got into the line, the only person in front of me a teenage guy my age.
I stared lovingly at all my favorite snacks, grabbing a big bag of lays and some Dr. Pepper. Then I thought of you, I sighed grabbing a coke and another bag of lays walking along the line towards the register.
The guy in front of me was thin and wiry, I had a pretty good view of his back as we walked towards the register, he had ordered the same thing as me. A bag of lays and Dr. Pepper.
I smiled softly as he turned around to grab some chocolates when I saw his face... Edward.
{A Moment In Time}
"What do you want me to say?!" He yelled.
I shrank back, "S-Sorry." I stuttered.
His eyes flashed as he turned around, his hands balled up...
I heard him mutter some incoherent words before he started to walk away.
"I-I want you to say you miss me..."
❝and he loved her... no buts or ors. he loved her. and no matter how many times she hurt him, he would always come back, he'd just hoped she'd be the one to let go.❞
